How did you manage to do this? Did you say that you weren't willing to keep charging until you saw the bonus in your account?
No, didn't say anything like that.
In a short summary, here's what I do:
1) Apply for the best Citi AA MC offer out there (IMO and for my circumstance as I have a high credit line with citi) the 25K miles for first $750 spent, followed by 10K bonus miles for $10K spent in a year
2) Get the card, activate it, etc.
3) Wait a day or two
4) Call up to cancel the card (it's a bluff which if even called won't result in your card being canceled anyway)
5) speak to retention specialist -- get that additional offer of 1 bonus AAdvantage mile per dollar spent for next 6 months up to 10K bonus miles.
6) Assuming you have the credit line, fund a brand new citi account with the entire credit line.
7) Enjoy the 55K AAdvantage miles on the first $10K of funding (25K for $750, plus 10K for spending $10K, plus the effective 10K retention offer due to the bonus mile per dollar). Enjoy the regular 1 AAdvantage mile per dollar spent for the rest of your credit line.
I only tie this into the Presidential coin offer because the guy seems willing to spend $10K on coins, might as well earn the retention offer on the entire first $10K he spends and right away, and not sit there waiting to collect his 25K sign on bonus first (i.e. one full statement cycle). Besides you can't fund a Citi account with an AMEX anyway, in fact I do use the coins for the AMEX card churn... just not the MC churn as funding citi accounts is easier on my back.
At any rate, point is, yes, they do give retention offers on virgin cards.

Can you do this if you have previously had myriad AA cards and bonii? Keep getting piles of mail offering 30K to husband, son and father but nothing for me, the only one who has had any card, let alone many. I think I told Citi a year ago not to make me any more offers; could that be the problem? I would do it for the 30K + coin purchases since I can transfer them to HH.
My purpose is to acquire airlines miles. The best card to do that with is the SPG AMEX where you receive a 25% bonus when transferring Starwood points to miles (when you convert 20,000 points). That is far more valuable to me than any bonus or any interest. I deposit my coins and pay the credit card off within days. This was my 1st 40 order, probably won't be my last. I turn quite a few coins.
BEWARE of using the SPG AMEX for the points. AMEX harassed me into financial review two months after the having the card and doing $7500 in coin transactions. I immediately canceled the card rather than give in to AMEX's mess, and still got all my points.

really? let's see if this will happen to me. i'm about an order short of the bonus...did they call you or email you?

I'm not worried about a review. I have spent thousands on the card before the Mint program and thousands more after that. The worse that would happen is I would lose the 25% bonus, but even if they did a review I don't think I would have a problem, they have already given me 4 AMEX cards. A credit review showed up on my credit report in May; they must have been happy as I wasn't contacted and got a new card. They don't make any finance fees from my accounts, but the make a ton of merchant fees.

If you have a link for a 25K for $750 spend plus $10K bonus, please post it. The best I've found in the Citi postings on FT has been for 30K after $750 spend within 4 months. As it is I'm going to get 47K miles as my card has a $2,000 limit; my main card has my large credit line and $2,000 works for these orders. I'm assuming you are funding a Citi Bank account with your credit line. I've already done that and thought it was once per AA number, do you know something different?

Just had my third Prez order canceled this week so guess I get to order some NA coins... (really I need to find a better way of depositing them as my CU has a cap of $200 a month (after that we are charged 3% ))

If you're asking if they can cap the deposits, surely they can. They can put into place any rules they wish and you are free to take your business anywhere. However, they should have the policies in writing so you know the rules up front.

I don't know if it's the same as some of you guys - but I am often surprised by "bonus points" going into an account. Take for instance my Hilton Amex - I just achieved Diamond status through coin purchases, and somehow I got an extra 30k in "spend bonus" points posted 2 days after the statement posted to my HH account - this is not a new card for me as I've had it for over a year and spent a lot of money on it last year. This has happened on numerous occasions with other cards as well - they have certain spend bonus points for large amounts that I don't remember at all seeing on the promotion I signed up for. I'm not going to complain - it's all gravy - but I seem to remember my Citi cards having some sort of spend bonus as well showing up after a certain point that I was unaware of - and it may be the 10k points mentioned above.
I placed an order Monday for another order of NA's-- right after ordering, my AMEX credit limit decreased by 5k (as usual, indicating a credit authorization had been placed...) on Tuesday my order went from On Hold to In Processing... I noticed today that the 5k hold has been released (and I haven't received a shipping confirmation)-- For my past orders the hold has remained until I actually received the coins and then turned into a charge on my statement. I wonder if they've wised up to all the multiple ordering going on....
Anyone else with NA's in the pipeline see this happen (the CC hold being released)?

the hold being released happens when the merchant hasn't actually charged the card within a certain amount of days (some cc issuers have a week hold, some couple days, all are different).
so because your cc wasn't charged during that authorization period the hold drops...hope that makes sense

From my experience, AMEX keeps holds open for more than three weeks. Not sure what's going on with leroix, but hopefully the mint is still shipping out NAs abundantly.
those of you that ordered this week, i saw a few posts that it went from hold to processing, did anyone have theirs shipped yet? did they use the usual overnight?
My order that I placed on 6/23, shipped out today.

I don't understand why they would do this. You're making purchases and accruing points. I presume the mint is paying their commission so what's the problem? If anybody's getting, screwed it's the mint.
