Was there any charge posted to your cc last week? How much was it?
By reading the last couple of pages, it seems Mint has been splitting up $5K orders into multiple shipment. Since they are so behind and only put through charges after shipment, I would think your cc charges will be a better crystal ball to tell the "fortune" of your orders.
FWIW, FedEx-USPS is the only combo I've experienced. I've never received UPS-USPS combo from any merchant ever. I don't know how FedEx, UPS and USPS work out their contracts/deals. I've never had any merchant that claims to ship via UPS and turn USPS to be the final shipper. Never.
I received 3 UPS-USPS combo from the Mint, including the one that said FedEx-USPS combo, because the number to USPS is a UPS number beginning with 1ZE. The CSR I talked to told me it was sent UPS-USPS, and told me the Mint never used FedEx.
Somewhere in this thread early on, a poster posts this link for the UPS site to track the UPS to USPS delivery. Yes, this type of arrangement EXISTS, eventhough you never have experienced it.
That is what the site said. It even has the pictures to show how it works, so you will now learn, eventhough you NEVER receive a package shipped this way, does not mean such arrangement does not exist. UPS said the program started in 1997, more than a decade ago.

UPS Mail Innovations (UPS MI) has been a National Account of the United States Postal Service (USPS) business partner segment since 1997. Through this work-share partnership, we provide global mail services.
The program works like this:
UPS MI picks up the mail, processes (sorts) and transports your mail to the USPS.
Then:
The USPS accepts your mail piece and makes the final delivery to your mailing address.

FWIW, my $500 John Adams came last week via UPS Next Day Air.
I didn't start my coin orders until this Feb. And my conversation with the CSR occurred either in late Feb or early March. My experience so far has been consistent with what the said CSR told me. I also believe what I was told is the most current practice by Mint. That's the reason why I gave timelines of my experiences so people can compare mine against theirs.
I recall early on in this thread folks reporting "irregularity" of shipping timeframe and order cancellations. If I am not mistaken, Mint had been running into problems with undelivered/missing claims before they introduced Next Day Air. Now what we heard are delays instead of missing. I haven't read any cancellation lately. I am not certain when Next Day Air came into picture though. Maybe in 2009?
I don't know how early on you placed your non-NA orders. But I did read the various shipping methods from orders placed last year. If you orders were back then, Mint wasn't using the same shipping methods. That's all I can say.
However, I do agree with you. Mint hasn't been consistent all along. They don't fulfill orders by the order dates. They can't give you the shipping dates after orders being picked (at least since March). Different CSRs may give different answers to customers.
ETA:
Don't get me wrong. I am not saying UPS-USPS combo never exists. What I meant is I can't confirm it with my own experiences. The destinations may affect which combo Mint ends up using. My point is no matter it's UPS or FedEx, as long as the final shipper is USPS, it will take longer and the tracking info won't be as current.

is there a new average time between ordering and shipping? been about 2 weeks now and wondering if I should expect another 2 weeks or not. And kinda worried as taking a week vacation starting in 2 saturdays and would really rather not have to deal with attempted deliveries (as last time they just left it and I had to call them and ask them to pick it up and hold it for me)

If this is the case... 2 things- hold off on ordering the coins, or have them ship to a friend/neighbor who will be around... IME... there was no true regularity, and it was really bad these past few months (although it seems the US Mint is improving...)

i ordered $7500 on the 29th of march. received 10-NA a week later. and i'm supposed to receive all my presidents today. so you can try to figure that out from there. if i were you i'd put a vacation hold for usps. though not sure what you would do for fedex or ups.

You might want to call and cancel. It sucks. We were a day or so away from doing it before going on vacation last month. Luckily the order arrived, but we were about to call.
Canceling sucks, but having a multi-thousand dollar order sit on the step for 2 weeks probably sucks more. And, if you are a worrier, it might ruin your vacation.
Last week I received 10 of 20 NA. Today I received an email saying they had shipped my 20 NA yesterday and the email listed the tracking number from the other shipment. So I called the Mint and talked with a CSR who has a good idea what's going on. As I suspected, they are using a fulfillment company, which is a business that stores a product and ships it for the supplier. The Mint ships the coins to the fulfillment company and the fulfillment company is extremely backlogged with all of the products the Mint sells. I suggested they find a different company and the CSR was in complete agreement as they are having so many calls about the late orders. We look at our little piece of the pie, but there are thousands of people placing orders who are in the same boat. I imagine there are not a lot of fulfillment companies that can handle the liability issue that would come from handling money vs. the normal products they ship. Told her I would gladly accept the addtional 10 boxes and would call back and pay for them if they arrived. She had a 2nd tracking number on her system that I couldn't see and it's not showing up at UPS yet.
In addition, an earlier poster has stated only NA are shipped Overnight. That is not true as on 4/9 I received 10 President (2 of 5 each) via UPS Overnight.
I assume you meant to put the word 'NOT' in the first sentence (...that it's not about intent...).
At any rate, yes, I can only carry $5K at a time. It fills my back pack, and it's incredibly heavy.
Thing is a couple branches have said that if I keep bringing them more they 'might' have to start charging for the deposit. To just avoid the argument that would ensue I just bring them to another branch. They're all within a 4 block radius of my house anyway.
At any rate, I didn't have $22.5K at one time to deposit... all deliveries were separate (3 of them) and within the course of a week. So, is this a de facto 'structuring' now. Oh boy, there really is very limited freedom to privacy in this country (...I digress probably the start of a debate better meant for OMNI)...
hawk -- I have renewed 'respect' for your coin 'deliveries' to the banks! I can't even imagine carrying around $5k in coins -- $1250 was my limit (weight-wise). Both banks accepted my coin dep. this morning (1st timer here!)

So far there has not been a charge. I am assuming the shipment yesterday is the additional $2500 adn I will be charged the total $5000 shortly. Of course the tracking number I have still shows the old delivery.
It's a waiting game now but I feel better about it now. Last night I was a bit worried.
...
Also how much have most of you been taking to the bank at a time? I just don't want to take too much and they think something is up.
In OMNI I have stated that I am fiscally conservative and socially liberal, here I have "coined" a new description that I am "coin cautious". As I don't want to kill the golden goose by order too much at a time nor call attention to the "coin recycling" activity when I go to the bank, I only order the 2 x 250 order at a time. However, as you can see from other posters, some have staggered multiple orders so that they always have something coming through the pipeline.
I went to the website and I saw there is a shipping fee listed is there a coupon code I need to use to not be charged shipping?

Oh! You must live in one of the Department of Homeland Security 'red flag zones'. By law, the mint has to charge a for shipping when shipped to one of those flagged zip codes. This is to assure that potential terrorists can not start using $1 coins for laundering of money made in the opium trade.
I believe you can apply for what's called a 'grievance code' from the Department of Homeland Security, this will allow you to get the free shipping to your address, however, you have to apply in person at your regional office.
I believe that the mint is trying to make things easier for those in 'red flag zones' by allowing a temporary waiver of shipping charges if you fax in a copy of your passport, and voter registration card to the Department of the Treasury, with 'ATTN: $1 Coin department' in the heading. But since this is not yet official policy, you are still advised to apply for the grievance code at the regional DHS office.
I have also heard rumors that instead of going to the DHS for the grievance code, or applying for the 'red flag zone waiver' from the department of the Treasury you could in fact read the very first post in a thread called Buy Presidential Dollar Coins with CC @ Face Value, Free Shipping. Apparently there is also information on yet another avenue to get the 'red flag zone' shipping charges removed from your order.
