Dead.
It's the end of an era: I didn't get any points for my 1st April t.c. purchase in Boston. It posted on 2d April, and my statement closed a couple days later. At least there were no cash advance or interest fees.
I wonder if I can pay my AmEx bill with dollar coins.

That was what I was thinking of doing with my coins - I tried to see if there are locations that will let me pay bill in cash - didn't find any info....if you find anything - be sure to post it here....

The sign at my local AMEX travel office says that you can make a payment on your AMEX bill with up to $1000 in cash -- so I imagine that means the dollar coins!
Should we expect the same result with the SPG card?
I just received my SPG AMEX card two wks ago, & it had the T & C notice which specifically noted the April 2 change regarding cash & cash equivalents (ie. TC's).
My Hilton Amex statement just posted. No more points for TCs purchased after 4/2 and it didn't count toward annual spending qualifications either.
Thanks OP! It was great while it lasted!
Well, that's it, I'm out!
My annual fee for the SPG is up on April 19th, and with the combination of 1) the slashing of my credit lines despite the fact I have nothing negative on my credit report -- and then not providing a reason and overall acting like complete jackas$es when I asked why they did so, plus 2) no more points for the TC's (and chance for gold status) anymore, I fail to see the reason to keep this card when the annual fee is considered. Especially considering that I've got enough Citi AAdvantage churning going on at any given time that requires $750 spends for 25K points anyway.
The TC run was pretty much the only reason I applied for the SPG card anyway.
At any rate: dgordon -- you are the best! Thank you very much for pointing out one of the best CC treasure troves out there! It was a wonderful year. My only regret is I didn't discover flyertalk until a year after this thread started so I could have enjoyed 2 years instead of one.

The same thing happened to me. I just called Amex and they are opening a case to look into this for all my purchases. I had a feeling this was going to happen because my receipts said the business date was Apr 2nd even though I bought them on the 1st at around 4pm.

Whenever I do anything at my bank after 3pm it always shows up as the next biz day.
Could be Amex does the same and once its past 3pm on 4/1 it was considered as if it was 4/2

I'm eager to hear if any of my fellow 1st April purchasers manage to get their points. It would be nice to squeeze out another 1000 SPG points. Without the t.c. deal, I think I'm also inclined to cancel the card given the annual fee. It can still be a good card, but I don't spend enough anymore.
If it was just 1000 spg points I would not have bothered. For me it was 1600 SPG points, 3000 HH points and $10 for my Costco true rewards card. The rep said I should still get the 1% on the true rewrads card after April 2. I doubt she was correct but time will tell.
