MilesBuzz: Canada
Original post: Are there any threads dedicated to MilesBuzz!-oriented topics, just in Canada?
Revised post: I guess we're starting one! |
I don't know the percentage of Canadians around here, but I'd love to see something like that.

Thanks for this! I am always looking for Canadian offers while I envy all the ones for U.S. citizens. I think Choice is offering a cc with a nice incentive right now. I have this card and transfer points to Air Tran and then to WN (Southwest). It works very nicely for me, as we almost always drive to Buffalo from Toronto to fly with WN.

Thanks for the tip! I'll add in the Choice card. I hadn't really considered the points transferability. |
It seems OP's also covering cc offers in this thread & wikipost. Don't forget there's a few master threads on Canadian ccs over our Credit Card Programs Forum and that's where cc offers generally go. Here's one example:

Both my wife and I have 2 Alaska Airlines credit cards each. We waited about 3 years from the first application to the second application and collected 50,000 miles each. You do have to pay the yearly fee on each card but we have 4 companion ticket.
A great deal is using your Alaska Airlines miles on American Airlines. They discount mileage to Europe Oct. 15 - March 15th for 40,000 miles instead of the usual 60,000 miles You can also obtain both a personal Choice Privileges credit card and business Choice Privileges credit card. This is currently worth 24,000 points plus 24,000 points for a total of 48,000 points. Choice usually has a promotion going where you earn 8,000 points after staying at a Choice hotel twice. Check their website for specific details. The real value is using these points for hotel stays in Europe. A 225 euro rate for a hotel room in Rome can be reserved for 10,000 points. Thats 1 Euro equals about $1.40 Canadian. Aeroplan miles are very difficult to redeem so I only use it when collecting points at Esso, Home Hardware, etc. |
The Marriott Rewards credit card does have an annual fee of $120 which is waived for the first year.
Search the internet and there was an offer for 50,000 points for a Canadian branded Marriott credit card. This included a free night in a cat. 1-4 hotel. I found this offer last Nov. and applied. |
