Pay with your CitiŽ / AAdvantageŽ card or other registered credit or debit card when shopping with participating store locations.
Spend over $1.00 and earn 1100 miles miles.
Spend over $501.00 and earn 2200 miles miles.
I signed into my AAdvantage eShopping mall account and used a card that was already registered. Registering another card meant having to wait for it to be activated.
On the institute's website, clicked "Make Payment/Donation" on the top, and clicked Donate on the bottom. Went through and used the CC I had registered.
As always, take screenshots. $1.01 is a small amount to part with, but 1100 miles is a decent payout.
I don't think it will work. The only way to make a donation is via Paypal and even if you use the credit card attached to the AA Shopping account, there is no way the College Bound Institute would know that. Also, the donations go to King Youth Foundation so probably not linked to the original merchant.

CBI is sponsored by KYF, so don't forsee problem there and you can donate with a credit card (does not have to be paypal)

I agree but for different reasons. You have to use the registered credit card "at participating store locations." I assume they have no intention of giving away 1,100 points for $1.01 and that you have to actually pay for a college student to register for the program and show up in person.
But it doesn't hurt to try. For 1,100 miles, it would be ridiculously miserly to donate only $1.01. Step up to the plate and give at least $25.
. . . and this is Cartera so they will probably not pay it out even if you follow all the rules, they'll just point you to some other rules or ones the made up and never get back to you. Dealing with them is not worth the hassle.

I'm somewhat skeptical of this.
there has been numerous threads on flyertalk regarding Cartera, the company that runs the numerous shopping portals of AA, DL, UA, etc and the problems in the past regarding giving the miles. Remember the Verizon offer? 830 miles per $ spent, Sittertcity 2500 miles for signup, UA month of miles? Those are some examples of previous promos that failed to give the bonus miles. Someone even tried to take them to small claim court.
It seems rather interesting that spending more than $1 will get you 1100 miles, but spending >$500 will get you 2200. A 50000% increase of spend will only yield a 200% increase of bonus. The math certainly does not add up. If you want to donate, do it directly to the entity you want to donate and skip all the middle parties. I know that a dollar is small amount to loose, but how much of that will actually get to them?
I'm not advocating a boycott of Cartera, but it has been proven time and time again that they have not cleaned up their act and numerous other still fall prey to them. If they are not being used, their services will not be needed. Good luck.

Your math doesn't quite add up either, $1 to $500 is a 50,000% increase Though that underscores your point even more...
