Also to be noted that most car rentals credited to non-US airlines earn a minimum of 500 miles (700 for Qantas) without the FF surcharges. They are great for those one day rentals.

The only real deal is the 5000 DL miles Budget gives you for using the DL
BCD and promo. This gives you 5000 miles for .75 cents per day,
depending on how many days you rent.

While I agree that the Budget/DL 5K for 2 days promotion is a good deal there are others I would note as "real".

Avis/US Airways 3K for 3 days: US miles can be redeemed on *A. Sweet.
Avis/Miles & More up to 3K for multiple rentals: No per day charge for miles.
Alamo/Southwest Triple Rapid Rewards credits: Easy to redeem albeit a hefty $1.50 per day up to $4.50 max.

Although 5,000 FF miles jumps out as the best, Delta miles are not as easy to redeem as some other FF programs. Their inflation rate is staggering.
