Thanks!
No. I was not successful in that. It is One-Time, ANY Airline, NOT Each Airline - I was told.

I were you I would call them again.

401K is managed by them, but it is still thru your employer, right? It probably weigh differently in Fido's book.

I have purchased mutual funds from Fidelity in the past, but not individual stocks. Do mutual-fund purchases count as a brokerage account?

After transferring the necessary funds into the new fidelity brokerage account, do you need to do anything with the funds (e.g. invest them in some fashion) in order to collect the AA miles or is it sufficient just to have the money sitting in the account?

I'm almost positive there is no requirement to actually invest in anything.

Nope. Just leave it in the cash account and receive your bonus.

My company has my 401K account in my name, but through the company at Fidelity. Sounds like mixed messages on whether this qualifies, anyone have positive experience getting this type of account to qualify?

I did this recently and there was no option to fund with a credit card.

I also do not believe there is a CC funding option. Fidelity wanted a check or wire transfer from me.

Miles More than one time!!!!

While Fidelity says it's a one time per lifetime offer, you may be able to get miles more than once. I did. I had opened a Fidelity account for miles, moved it to TDAmeritrade the next year for miles, and the year after that, called Fidelity to see if they wanted me back. The rep got me a supervisor and I was approved to get the 50,000 miles again, although it had to be on a different ff program.

This may or may not still work, but it sure is worth trying.

United has a similar program with Fidelity. Seems like a decent deal.
http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6722,50776,00.html

Deposit: Earn:
$50,000 25,000 miles
$10,000 15,000 miles
$2,500 5,000 miles

Offer valid for new customers only. Limit one per household, per lifetime.

Your Fidelity account must remain open with the qualifying funding for six months from the date that the qualifying assets are first received in the eligible account.

I already used this offer with CO or something 2 years ago and still the account is active with just 1K in there.
Can my wife open an account with AA offer now? It says one per household but wondering if anyone had luck getting one for each person.

I've put $50K into an account for my wife. It's been in there for over a week, and no miles yet. I got miles earlier this year.
