The A380 usually arrives at a C gate but sometimes at a B gate. Unless the SFO flight is late or immigration queues very long, you should have enough time for a bite and a shower in the Welcome Lounge.
You'll have to go through immigration in any case before catching the CDG flight whether you go to the Welcome Lounge or not and customs are almost unnoticeable. If you think you'll have the time just follow the signs for the Exit rather than for the departure gate for your CDG flight in A.
There is priority security for C passengers and LH1034 leaves from an A gate. The higher the gate number the further from the central area. I would leave the Welcome Lounge 45 mins before departure.

This may be a silly question (being a non-status person having just redeemed my Grand Slam points for travel in C), but are towels provided in the shower? What a wonderful way to be welcomed. At first I thought a 3 hour layover was a tad long, but this might work out quite nice for Mrs. dwcatty and me.

This is a fabulous thread. I'm assuming the above information applies to my schedule: arriving 5:30 am on LH metal JFK-FRA in C with a three hour layover before transferring to an LH flight to VCE. We deplane, Exit, find the Welcome Lounge, shower, have a leisurely breakfast, pass back through security with our hand luggage and fly to Venice.

Yes, they provide towels and toileteries (shampoo, shower gel, etc.) in the Welcome Lounge. It opens at 5:30am so you and Mrs. dwcatty should be two of the first guests!
And skip breakfast on the plane!

Great stuff, and I read the suggestion somewhere to have the FA not wake us for breakfast on the plane. Do they have strudel in the lounge? This will be our only meal in Germany, lol.
BTW, I found the dedicated "Welcome Lounge" thread and this recent report from bartla, complete with pictures.
On leaving the Welcome Lounge we pass back through security, I understand. There is a shortcut line for C passengers? And as a normal dirt flyer w/o status, what other lounge might we wait in after security before the flight to VCE?

They only have breakfast stuff like these in the Welcome Lounge, but will also prepare cooked breakfast (eggs, bacon, etc.) on request.
There should be priority security for C and F passengers. The nearest lounge for your VCE flight will be the Business Lounge by gate A26. I haven't seen any strudel in the Welcome or Business lounges.
BTW the link to bartla's report seems to be broken. Here's a link which should work.

If you hold a US passport or any passport which doesn't need a visa to enter Schengen, you can just say you are in transit and want to go to the FCT if you are asked. I'm sure you won't be the first one!
After immigration go down to the arrival/baggage claim level, leave the terminal building through any of the doors and turn left. Or follow some detailed instructions by following the link below. When you reach the FCT go through the automatic glass doors on the street level and up the elevator to the main reception area or walk up the spiral stairs outside.

My UA flight from IAD did park at a remote stand and had to bus in. The purser on my UA flight did go above and beyond to call up UA GS agent at FRA to escort me all the way out to the building and showed me where to go once outside of the terminal. It was a lot easier than I thought and didn't take that long to walk to FCT. The FCT experience was totally worth it but my FRA-KIX flight was another story.
Thanks for your help once again.

It looks like LH740 FRA-KIX has only been getting the new F every other day since the beginning of December. Did you end up with the 744 with the old F?

A little hint: I was told no mid-flight snack available except the "movie snack" from C, which consist of bananas, pre-package seaweed riceball, roast beef wrap, salmon wrap, that's it for this 11 hours flight. In my opinion, it is pretty pathetic for non-US carrier int'l F. This is just one example, I have a lot more to tell.
PS I will return on LH F MUC-ORD with 343 in old F (connecting from LX F HKG-ZRH-MUC), hopefully will see better experience.

Flying LH from Houston to FRA to Delhi
Four of us (wife, I, 2 kids - 6 and 2 yo) are flying in economy on LH 441 in coming week and connecting to DEL - all on Lufthansa. We have four seats. I am reading some so so reviews of Lufthansa Economy seats, food etc. Is that right? Should we pack lots of snacks for kids? First time on Lufthansa - was able to book using CO Onepass miles, where I am Presidnetial Platinum elite. Can the four of us access lounge in FRA using my elite status? Only have 4.5 hour layover. Any other tips while in FRA or in flight? Thanks

In a few weeks I'll fly TXL-FRA-ICN, first time in LH business class, therefore access to the Business Lounges to kill 2 hours between the flights.
The ICN flights obviously leave from the dreadful C gates. Physically I know the way from the A to the C gates, but which lounge would you recommend for the transfer? I would prefer one with easy access to a smoker cabin
For that reason the lounge at the c gates seem to be unhandy as you have to leave the security area when you want to go for a cigarette...

I'm afraid I can't answer the question about a smoker cabin.

I agree, direct boarding from the lounges is a nice thing. The 'dreadful' was rather the ordinary Y pax perspective: once you have cleared passport and security controls, there is nothing except long hallways and boring waiting rooms, almost no shops and no bars for pastime.

The C Gate SEN Lounge has a smoking room inside the lounge. Maybe you can find a fellow FTer in the lounge meeting thread who could guest you in.
(What date are you flying? Will be flying to ICN Dec 26...)

Got a question for the experts
I'll be connecting at FRA (coming from LH F ex USA) and continuing onto BRU (LH J) 3.5 hours later.
I'd like to exit the secured area and go to worldshop. I'm also going to check an empty luggage for my shopping
What's the best way about clearing immigration? Will someone come take me to the first class lounge/terminal? I've only connected in MUC and the passport control was inside the first class lounge. Is FRA the same? Should I clear immigration at the first class lounge or do I have to go to the regular immigration. Will whoever is coming to take me (if they even come) take me to the front of immigration?

Just go through any passport control but after visiting the WorldShop leave the terminal building and walk to the First Class Terminal. There should be plenty of instructions on how to get there in this thread.

Any suggestions to spend a day in Frankfurt if one takes a day break en route from Asia to USA via FRA?
