Creditcard to be presented upon check-in for award tix?
I booked a award ticket including LX/LH flights. I paid the taxes with a credit card which I quit in the meantime.
I assume that my FT card fully does it upon check-in (if even required beside ID) but just wanted to double check with you. I'm asking because I was almost denied boarding in a similar case on a IBERIA flight. Well, LH/LX is not IBERIA and I was never asked to present the CC on a LH/X flight (even if the flight was paid by CC) - but it is still better to be safe than sorry.
My last (and only) award flight with LH is a while back and I can't remember on the check-in details.

I know BA insist on having your CC when checking in. Not just on awards but all tickets booked online.
I don't think LH requires this though, but perhaps some of the award experts can comment here ?

I've never had LH asking for a credit card at check-in, be it a paid ticket or an award.
SQ and CX also want to see the CC. I was in a very unpleasant situation in KUL this year because I didn't have my CC with me, so take care if you fly with thouse airlines.

You end up in all kinds of discussions and will most likely miss your flight.
BA seems to have a flag on most BA.com purchases, where you must present the CC at checkin. When using the SSCI machines now I only use my CC instead of FF card, as it will ask for my CC anyway.
Seems like a very odd thing todo. If SQ ever annoys me with that .... when travelling on my usual LH tickets where I didn't select for the CC as authentification methods they can cause all trouble they'll want, and I'll sue them for refusing service afterwards.

They only require the CC for tickets you purchased online via the SQ website. This requirement is clearly stated during the booking process. No CC needed if you book through other websites (e.g. Zuji). By the way TG and PG have similar rules.
It is anoying and I have no clue why they are doing it, but either you accept it or you take your business elsewhere.

S
correct. Only for tix purchased on sq.com. I ended up signing a form and giving them another CC they could charge eventually. I was surprised because the GA in KUL had no clue how to handle my case. They only figured out after 10min what to do. I can hardly imagine that I'm the first pax showing up at checkin without my specific CC... Finally it was not such a big deal but I lost 15min at checkin.
I was never asked to show my CC when checkin in with LH.
With BA I was asked sometimes. Now I always check the box "credit card holder is not traveling" even if I book only for me. No checks since then. They eventually do the check beforehand.

I never had to show the CC at LH ckeck-in.
I use a small wallet with the main CCs, and a larger one with the remaining cards together with an international driver's licence I don't need when travelling within the European Union. It happens, mostly for short week-end trips, that I travel with the small wallet only and don't have the CC I used for booking.
I must admit that it's a good practice to request the CC at check-in for an unknown customer without any status with the airline. It seems to be a good mean to avoid CC fraud.
I booked a flight for my g/f on my milage and paid taxes with ,my credit card. She flew without me and I called M&M in HKG: They told me she would have to present my credit card upon check in. As I changed cards in between and CC was not existing any more they accepted she therefore showed a copy of my passport upon check in.
Very annoying...
