Three-piece SEN baggage allowance for intra-European flight?

Can someone please explain why the LH self-checkin kiosks mention that I am allowed three pieces of luggage on intra-European flights? Does this number include one checked bag, one carry-on, and the computer bag/purse/etc.?

From what I can gather on the LH website, as a SEN I am limited to one checked bag of 40kg.

The message mentioning the three pieces of luggage shows up at the bottom of the screen at some point during the check-in process.

IIRC you can have as many pieces as you like, totalling a certain maxium weight defined by a combination of your COS and *A status.

Depending on the station, 40kgs single-bag could actually run you into trouble .

I once tried 4 baggies (which I could fuse into 2, if necessary) to probe the limit @ FRA and the agent swallowed it without any expletives.

IIRC, as a SEN, you are allowed 40kg total hold baggage. H&S regulations limit the maximum per piece to 32kg.

Not universally. Not in most of Europe.

Everybody has stretched that limit at some point or another. I think my heaviest one was three pieces with a weight of over 100 kg all together on a flight between MUC and CDG. With a damn cheapo 99 EUR return ticket.

I ran into issues twice before I became SEN, but after that these problems all went away and never came back to me. Even in airports like LHR it was never a problem. They just tag it as "heavy" and there you go.

There is a 40kg single piece limit on most stations within Europe and some routes and airports enforce 32kg weight limits .. at least for pax. Airline staff have ways to load much heavier goodies.

Sure they have. Or how do you think they succeed in upferrying a fully laden ULD into a 747's belly?

Given my LH luggage track record ... I am not 100% convinced that they do succeed .

Of course I am not talking about the loaders 333! I know a pilot who brought home 2 100KG boxes from HKG .. I wished I could have that travel luggage .

Com'on, you've been more creative in the past. Let's see:

Make that a HKG-ORD-FRA flight so officially you're entitled to:

3 x 32 kgs. => 96 kgs

2 x 8 kgs cabin baggage => 112 kgs

Now all you need to do is finding four babys whom you designate to be yours for the flight. Gives you another 4 x 23 kgs.

So more than 200 kgs luggage on a single flight is perfectly feasible even without stretching the rules.

I will be flying LH F FRA-IAD in a couple of weeks on B744. I'm only familiar with UA upper deck--is carry-on bag stowage any better on LH? Will a standard roll-aboard (55x40x23) fit up stairs over-seat or in a closet?

Also, if I choose to check bags, do F bags get priority delivery upon arrival at IAD?

And...does anyone know if SAS is strict on the 8kg carry-on rule for Biz pax boarding for CPH-FRA?

Thanks.

B744 F upper deck stowage sucks in the overhead bin. BUT, the FAs will take care of your rollaboard and store it in the closet for you

SK wont make a fuss about your carry on in C. The aircraft have decent overhead storage and closets to store carryons when you are in C.

URGENT: Baggage Allowance for C PAX

Hi

I am flying tomorrow with BMI and LH to HKG but I have a dilemma with regards to the baggage allowance wonder if anyone could help me out?

I have 2 hold luggages (total of 35KG)
2 cabin luggages (9 KG total) and a laptop bag

I am flying C class all the way from EDI - LHR - MUC -HKG

Would I be able to take all the stuff with me? Or else I would have to drop them off at the local courier today ASAP!

Thank you!

As a business class passenger, you can have 30 kg of checked-in luggage (plus more kg if you have a status within Star Alliance). Your 5 kilos extra may be charged for, but depending on the mood of the check-in agent, you can get away with it.

Carry on: as per LH.com "In First and Business Class you may take two pieces of hand baggage on board (except for flights departing the UK)".
