Earning Miles on Deutsche Bahn

Am I right? I am looking for the chance to earn miles by traveling with the Deutsche Bahn. I found on the web site of Deutsche Bahn (on Lufthansa Flyway I found nothing) you earn miles only on:

Metropolitan
Cologne-Düsseldorf-Essen-Hamburg

And ICE-Sprinter

Fra– Berlin
Berlin-Fra
Fra-Muc
Muc-Fra

Or are there any other trains?

ZWS (Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof) - FRA is operated by Deutsche Bahn BUT YOU HAVE TO BOOK THE CONNECTION AS LH-FLIGHT NUMBER (e.g. on Lufthansa Flyway). In contrast to your examples you won't get miles for a TICKET with Deutsche Bahn from ZWS - FRA.

Be carful with QKL-FRA, although the train has a LH flight number you DONT earn miles there. Kind of weird since it works on ZWS-FRA, but hopefully that will change with the introduction of the new ICE track.

The train is coming: Miles & More participants are now able to collect Miles on the following selected rail routes in 1st class:

ICE Sprinter Frankfurt-Munich
ICE Sprinter Frankfurt-Berlin
Metropolitan Cologne-Hamburg
Metropolitan Dusseldorf-Hamburg
Metropolitan Essen-Hamburg

Earn Miles.
Earn 500 Miles per route travelled. If you show the Miles & More card to the ticket collector on the train the Miles will be credited automatically. It is also possible to redeem your Miles for a DB Award train ticket. The Deutsche Bahn AG offers any 2nd class return journey in the whole DB rail network incl. seat reservation for 15,000 Miles. In 1st class you get a return journey for 20,000 Miles.

Spend Miles.
Award tickets can also be used on all Deutsche Bahn train journeys within Germany – with the exception of sleepers, couchettes and monorails trains.
The return journey must be taken at the earliest on the Sunday following the outgoing journey.

Other FTs told me, that they took the train (as LH flight) from Bonn and got miles for it.

On this subject, does anybody know where I can find (in English) a complete DB timetable? Some friends want to take the train from FRA to MUC. I looked at the DB website, which seems to indicate that such a trip departs approx every hour (during the day/evening) and take 3.5 to 4 hours. That seems unusually long to me. Perhaps I should be looking in a different place for the high-speed trains? (Is the ICE-Sprinter different from the ICE?)

Thanks
Ron

You can create a personal timetable

http://persoenlicherfahrplan.bahn.de/bin/pf/query-p2w.exe/en?newrequest=yes&protocol =http:

There are two routes (from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof)
1.) via Stuttgart: leaving at HH:49, direct
2.) via Würzburg: leaving at HH:19, change train in Würzburg

http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/det...n/query.exe/en

gives you information on DB iternaries - including (most) inner-city bus or tram connections.

[ah well, LH738 beat me on this... ]

The time seems about right, the sprinter makes no stops and is thereby faster (3:21 and 3:24), just see:

Thats what I thought. I checked this with M&M and SEN desk three times, and with the help of supervisors a.s.o. they always told me, no miles. So I took the flight CGN-FRA. Grrrrrrrr.......

Ahh:

This was the first ICE Line! HAM-MUC - no stop in FRA Airport. IIRC they go hourly. Just remeber MUC is surprisingly far east to those not au fait with German geography. I remember getting on the train for the first time, thinking: "This'll only take two hours"

Regards,
Alex
