When will LH start offering paid upgrade to C on European flights? Or even better question: why is LH (and entire LH gropu) not offering REASONABLY priced business class fares in Europe at first place.
Paying 1000EUR for intra-EU flight should be a crime in today. However combining economy fares with "business class" surcharge for total of 500-550EUR makes sense
I will be flying with OS/LH and LX/LH combination in next week. Approx fare 240EUR + 130 for business class).
I am willing to pay that Eur130 extra to upgrade to business class (but not Eur700) ... anyone else?
Shorthaul business is expensive in europe but dont forget many people fly longhaul in first or business and use the shorthaul business as a feederflight before their longhaul flight. The price for their feederflight is then a small part of the rest of flight ticket. Also not every EU-businessticket is the same in fare as you have PZJCDfares with (in)flexibility and such.

Why you would be willing to pay that much for an empty seat next to you and some better food is beyond me.....
Just as I don't get complaining about something that's just a fact. Do you expect that as a result from this post LH will lower their fares?
It is intersting though, why LH would not go for a model comparable to US carriers, which is to make S/H J class avaiable for upgrades at check-in, either versus a reasonable amount of miles or cash. A similar model as business saver or AUA red saver tickets, but with much more flexibility and dynamic.
On certain routes where J class is still well-filled (e.g. FRA-HAM, FRA-LCY) there is no need for these offers. But routes will light J traffic, why not fill J with upgraders and collect some extra cash. No complimentary upgrades though as in the US.. that is a horrible thing to start with!

AFAIK LH is looking at upsell possibilities to offer a red|up (OS) or Business Upgrade Europe (LX) without knocking over the deal they have milking business travellers paying for fake C on the kont routes. I'm pretty certain there are a few pax willing to upfare for 100€ to travel in fake C.

I think that the OPs point is the he will NOT be willing to pay that much for the fake kont C product, but that 130 euros (a la OS) would be acceptable.

Agreed- and the OP has a valid point- for a 100 EUR- once in a while- maybe.
Call me CRAZY, but I am willing to pay that 100-130 EUR for extra space and comfort. Not for food, as I am on perpetual diet, and I refuse to eat airplanes.
But, for ability to take on board two carry-ons and leave the aircraft first, without waiting for checked luggage, means that I can save anytime from 30min to even 1hr30 after arrival. I am not suggesting that I am so kind of "hot xxx" (even though 100 eur per hour is not such a steep rate , but if I can get to my office earlier and do more or get home earlier and still kiss my kids goodnight ... it's priceless.

When it comes to LH's intra-european C-lass, you could even put it down to a "50 euros paid upgrade" and I still wouldn't have touched it. It's just lousy the hole thing. My last LH flight in C from AGP to FRA (3.30-flight), and they served the same meal that OS does on a 1.30-flight! And Roger me, like always with LH, it tasted mediocre. The service as well.
And talking about OS. Although I really fancy their new 15 euro "a la carte", they completely give away a part of their C-marked potential(the marked that travels in C for comfort not for miles, and are in a "non qualifying year"). With the SEN perks like blocked middle seat and emergency-exit in eco (After my experience: more legroom than the "average seat" in C) Lounge access and FT is already taken care of. Then you only add 15 euros for a meal of your choice (In C you have to take what you get) The meal is even bigger than in C - I would also say better.
Why would I then pay 130 euros for a upgrade? Even two OS crew-members I was talking to said the same. They found it strange to serve eco-passengers a better meal than in C! They only difference to be stressed is the "after-dinner Cognac" you would have to take in the Lounge instead of airborne.
