Not sure, but could it also be that since LH has recently restricted F and C awards from their Star Alliance partners until T-14 days those same partners have reciprocal policies?

Are you serious? It must be part of M/M service to point something like this out.

Within North America:

Premium cabins on 2 class US are coded (O) first
Premium cabins on 2 class AC/UA are coded (I) business

Not only M&M charges (O) first for USAir domestics, AC's Aeroplan, and many others do as well, because of the (O) coding not (I)

Same problem is with Air China's domestics coded (O) in 2-cabin planes

United is coded business since the merger for award purposes (I class). Even Aeroscam recognizes it so now. Only US is the problem now.

I do not believe 'US is the problem now'. US codes it First as it is First. Full stop.

The denomination is long gone on CO, it still exists somewhat on US. And a phone agent should see mixed availability and notify the customer about the options.

I have agree though that the LH agent quaility made a steeeeep drop since the grand reformation of the call centers. They are not equally non-empowered and catatonic as the CO agents. No match for say US or AA award mile desks.

Those large seats in the front on domestic USAir planes are first class?
Really?
I must have missed the caviour, pyjamas and limo ride to the gate.....

Thats almost like Air Canada calling their cabin "Executive First" and United "BusinessFirst" for mediocre business class products.

As big a joke as European carriers ( intra Europe) calling their cabins "Business Class".

Not sure how US Air "First" is in anyway "First" as commonly accepted to be "First". Full stop!

Seriously? You can't get a UA award flight? No offense but you are obviously doing something wrong or M&M agents a morons (which seems more and more likely - never mind that you can't understand them many times anymore!)

Hallo everyone - yes I am aware of those different "classes" on United flights. However I have to take the agents word for it that they are looking for the correct option.

Most are not that stupid, but it pays to do your own homework finding routes and availability.

Like others have said - you need to do your homework and find the flights you want.

I use the United search engine to find flights (you are looking for the blue saver seats) - it is a better tool than most but you need to search for sections at a time.

In my experience most reward engines will not give you acceptable but wild routings

Here is one way - try looking for FRA-ORD and then do a second search for ORD-ANC

For 4 June 13 - I found FRA-ORD (C or F) direct and ORD-PHX-ANC (in C)

On the return break it up the same way. ANC-Somewhere (US or Canada) and then search from there-FRA.

When you have your flights then spoon feed them to the phone agent.
