All trains, airplanes, and boats among other services on strike today.

Write and thank your friendly unions (especially CGIL and FIOM are good places to start).

An interesting experience with a taxi

So after rebooking onto LX, my Italian team told me to get to the airport PDQ and to take a cab (if I could find one).

Am marching towards the taxi stand near the office, trolley bag in hand and see an elderly lady get into the only cab on the rank ((((

Then all of a sudden, the cabbie that picked up the elderly lady winds down the window and says "Malpensa ?"

I say "yes" he says "jump in, we drop her off on the way" !!!

Italian hospitality at its best ))))))))))))))))))

Yes- and the taxi drivers revolt because the government would like to add more taxis in the city of Milano- really Italian hospitality is becoming nothing but a rip off.

Sure, there are many shall we say "structural issues" in Italy like the point you make about the taxi drivers, it will be interesting to see how Monti manages ......
