That was Zone K which you can see on this map with the First Class/*G check-in area at the far end with 4 check-in counters and only one check-in agent. You needed those chairs while you waited for your turn.

New check-in deadlines for Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines at London Heathrow

With effect from the summer timetable on 31 March check-in deadlines at London Heathrow Terminal 1 have changed as follows.
The new check-in deadline for all Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines flights is now 40 minutes prior to the scheduled time of departure. The check-in deadlines remain at 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time of departure for all First and Business Class passengers as well as for HON Circle Members, Senators, Star Alliance Gold members and Frequent Travellers.
