What do they serve on LHR-FRA in the morning? Later in the day?
My first question has been answered by this trip report with the following picture of a breakfast served on LHR-FRA dep. 09:45.
It looks almost identical to what oliver2002 posted in #98. So the question now is why do they serve cold meat, cheese, dessert, etc. on the morning MAN-FRA flight (block time of 1:50 hr) while they serve muesli and a small salad on LHR-FRA (block time of 1:45 hr).
Are they drunk when composing the meals? That's probably the worst combination I've ever seen, and I've seen quite some combinations of food in my life..
Sorry, taking back my "Are they drunk" statement - not even if I'm totally loaded such combination would have come into my mind..
Get NEKed and enjoy your Müesli and Salad dish in great LH C...
It might have been only a pleasing exception, but from 2 experiences last week you could conclude that LH upgraded the domestic Y catering. On flights from TXL to CGN they gave out quite resonable sized savoury pastries by Ditsch and furthermore upon deboarding FA had baskets of chocolates... well I know, common on LX and AB for ages, but LH???
Or did they mix up the trolleys and a flight to IST had to get by on muesli bars?

LH European catering in C - a nice surprise and above LX
Never flew LH and on a short hop was pleasantly surprised by their offer:
- Mousse and filet of smoked eel with balsamico cherry tomato
- "Roasted carrot" with breast of guinea fowl confit
- Gellied vegetable soup on spicy tomato chutney
- Elderflower soup with pink grapefruit and elderflowers
This comes in small tapas like portions and is created by Dirk Maus.
Much better than the boring cold LX offer, even the LH chocolate is better. Unfortunately the bread was hard cold and the Winzersekt does not match the LX Champagne .
Overall a good experiene on a 1 hour flight.

I'm glad someone enjoyed the meal more than I did. The bread was the best part of my meal.
I agree it is a somewhat "exotic" choice which might not please all tastes. But I really liked it and I compliment LH for getting out of the ordinary.
Our different opinion just shows how it is difficult for airlines to please all, but at least LH makes an effort.
P.S.: I am in the hospitality industry for over 35 years and had a dinner at a Michelin starred property just the night before - but I take the lesson from your statement and am sure Dirk Maus would be concerned too - we all have to listen more to the "down to earth" needs of our guests without trying to be too fancy.

My taste in food is not extreme. I'm neither too conservative or too adventurous, but the meal just wasn't to my taste. I had a last-minute op-up and had already eaten in the FCT before the 1.5 hr flight on CRJ7.
I actually like food on LH C and F and prefer it to LX, though C food on shorthaul LX isn't usually bad either. Y is another story. Last time I flew on LX shorthaul it was a dry, plain croissant which I refused. Most LH shorthaul flights have been on wet leased BD so hot, posh wraps in Y.
