Does anyone have a strategy for using an e-certificate if I'm not sure I can go? My understanding is that if I use use it and cancel within 24 hours, the certificate is gone for good. I wonder if I could book it and pay by cc, then go back and apply the e-cert?

Trying to coordinate with my family. They are slow decision makers.

Very difficult to do that, but it can work if you get a good united.com support agent and call shortly after booking.

I think it is one of the best usage of the CR1s.

Does .bomb have a 24 hour cancellation policy?

Anybody figure out a multi-city routing of EWR-HNL-KOA-SFO-EWR, but put the HNL-KOA segment in the middle of a weeklong trip?

You can use the automated phone system, hold your reservation and when your ready purchase your ticket with your certificate and CC. The system will hold it before midnight the following day.

They work very well if UA bother to clear the waitlist . Be prepared to wait it out on the HNL route, although the F cabins are basically empty!

Great fare, OP. I have already booked (at a much higher rate ) LAX HNL LAX. Darn it!

I don't see any fare action to Hawaii from the East Coast. Yet.

I did IAD-EWR-HNL-EWR-IAD and the price increased about the cost of the round trip IAD-EWR (from $256 to about $480).

Not bad, but not worth the effort to get to EWR in January (when I have an award booked).

UA newbie question
I have some miles on UA
looks like even in L I can request an upgrade using miles - any chance it will go through?
What do these drop down choices mean:
I would like to use this upgrade:
Miles-EMUHQVKWSTL
Miles-MH
Miles-YB
Maybe I should ask this over on the UA forum - but seems to apply here too

THANKS

MKE-HNL

I just checked MKE -HNL in Nov. and Dec. on ita month long search, it's pricing out at $380 all in. It would be cheaper than trying to get out to EWR.
