Does anyone have a strategy for using an e-certificate if I'm not sure I can go? My understanding is that if I use use it and cancel within 24 hours, the certificate is gone for good. I wonder if I could book it and pay by cc, then go back and apply the e-cert?
Trying to coordinate with my family. They are slow decision makers.

Very difficult to do that, but it can work if you get a good united.com support agent and call shortly after booking.

You can use the automated phone system, hold your reservation and when your ready purchase your ticket with your certificate and CC. The system will hold it before midnight the following day.

UA newbie question
I have some miles on UA
looks like even in L I can request an upgrade using miles - any chance it will go through?
What do these drop down choices mean: I would like to use this upgrade:
Miles-EMUHQVKWSTL
Miles-MH
Miles-YB
Maybe I should ask this over on the UA forum - but seems to apply here too
