Well, my credit card has been charged, and I can see my itinerary on ac.com. So far so good, but we're not out of the woods yet. (Anyone remember the Mexico MR on AC which was booked on Dec 26, 2007, but was cancelled by AC 6 weeks later?)
All flights are in E class, except for YYC-YYZ which I booked into A class. I'm not booking my positioning too soon ....
I called in to the Elite line and chose seats. The agent told me that I can actually upgrade the YYZ-MAD-YYZ legs - but it can only be done standby at the gate. Then, she said - oh, I probably shouldn't tell people that.
I'm outta luck on the YYC-YYZ legs though unless there's on oversold situation.

Reason: typo
My documentation on AC.com shows it all as E and not a single segment on K
Does your itinerary display AC flight numbers or the JK codeshares? This fare is (predominantly) booked in JK E class, which is for operational and mileage accumulation purposes AC K class.

If you are on a Spanair PNR like I am, I confirmed with the AC agent that if booked into K.

K class is not upgradeable. Was the agent implying that you could use a SSWU?

Yes, she said you can actually do standby upgrades at the gate using a SSWU (aka, bottom of the heap) on the international leg only.
In other news, Expedia sent me an email today telling me my itinerary was updated. I cannot see any difference between my original times and whats there now. I also note that despite the AC agent making the seat requests, they are not reflected on the "updated" itinerary. Nor are the seats I chose showing as occupied online.

I got the same email. Confusing. How do you choose seats in advance ?

Received that email aswell, I don't mind as it says confirmation of your trip etc... great! So it looks like UA MP is the best program to credit these trips to, right? Should be 50% for YYC-YYZ and 100% for the two other legs.

Hall of...
When you see one as good as this go to ground, don't you wish there were a "Hall of Fame" in this section of FlyerTalk for the legendary ones, however long or briefly they blazed? Or maybe a "Hall of Fare"? Rhetorical.....

Actually, on further thought, it also would be a nice way to show people new to this board by example what is really meant by (and to strive for in posting a) "Mileage Run".

You need to call AC and give them your ticket number.
You may find an agent that will hlep you - some won't.
The first one I had said she couldn't as it as a Spanair codeshare and the request had to be made through Spanair.
I called back and got an agent who said she would 'try' and put the request in. Her system responded 'pending' vs confirmed but when I view my booking on ac.com (get the AC locator) the seats are showing.
