Good one! I might like to do that too! But, I doubt there is any way to do it without jeopardizing the return.

Does anyone know if there are any direct flights from MAH to IBZ? This would be a great opportunity for me to relive my younger days and show my American friends how to party Ibiza style!

People should check their reservations - Spanair seems to have gone to one-a-day (15:15 departure) MAH-MAD flights on Mondays; and two-a-day (12:55 and 16:40) on Sundays. Pooches the overseas connections. Looks like we might be in the driver's seat again to change unfavourable schedules?

Edit: maybe someone can convince JK to switch to a different destination? MAD/BCN/PMI or the coast?

darn looks like it starts Sep 15th.. and my flight back is on the 14th. if you're booked on that 9AM flight to MAD it will cause a misconnect to YYZ on the way back. the only option besides changing destinations is they could force you could do a 20 something hr layover in MAD..

Just looked up my res on checkmytrip:

Tuesday, September 22, 2009 confirmed
Departure: 12:40 Madrid, Spain - Barajas, terminal 1
Arrival: 15:20 Toronto, Canada - Pearson International, terminal 1

I suppose they wronged something when they decided to reprotect me.... at least I think.
BTW, because probably I can't make it, I'll be happy to see if this unexpected change of schedule could allow me to get a full refund (even though the amount is very low).

Same here, they changed it to the same connection that wouldn't work. If anyone calls, let us know what you could achieve in terms of rebooking.

Looks like PMI has a 7 am daily flight, and IBZ has a no-weekend 7 am flight that connect to the AC flight in MAD.

I didn't look at any of the mainland destinations, but this could be an opportunity for BCN or MAD destination change?

I now have the same itinerary as paffendorf in post #140, but 6 days later. So no way to catch my flight from MAD-YYZ without some adjustments in my itinerary. (Funny that I got a Change Itinerary notice on June 16 for a 10 minute adjustment on the YYZ-YYC segment, but nothing this time!)

I booked through Orbitz. Should I be calling Spanair or Orbitz to come up with a new itinerary? (Yes, I will do my homework first, and decide what I would like.)

I called expedia.com and the agent was professional but absolutely unhelpful. He told me he hadn't any option to offer me and invited me to contact directly JK.
I called JK where the young girl offered me a 4 stops itinerary.... please read carefully..... MAH-BCN-STR-FRA-YYC with some sectors on LH (I suppose the last two: btw, I don't know which bk class but I suspect the lowest!), which by the way requires an overnight in STR.
She also added that neither the day before or later there was an acceptable itinerary available (from what I understood, this was due both to the new schedule and also to JK's desire to rebook me in the same booking class).

When I answered this is not a good option for me, she replied that a refund was definitely available but I have to contact expedia to get that.

I forgot to ask for a different destination, but for what I can see, I would go for the refund, due to my previous need to abort this flight.

I am experiencing the same change to my itinerary. I was actually looking forward to spending the weekend in Menorca, and have a rather inflexible time schedule. Has anybody ever been successful in changing the origin city when there is a significant schedule change? Spanair does have flights to Seattle (which is much more convenient for me, and would cut off a travel day), although they are not on Air Canada. I have been told that origin and destination cities must remain the same, but am not sure if this is a hard and fast rule, or something that might be flexible depending on the agent one is working with.
Thank you!

Did you have to call Spain or is there a local number in North America?
