This triggered a memory: I did take a photo of the frightful shower in the SQ lounge at DPS. I suppose if you were REALLY dirty and didn't mind contracting several communicable diseases it would do, but otherwise wait for the T3 showers in SIN. Here's the pic:

hahaha, yes I remember it well. Also of note is that the AC does not extend into the Bathrooms, so a shower really wouldn't do much good anyway.

Just a couple of comments:

Air France Salon in JFK has a decent shower available, they give you a handy amenity kit as well.

SIN arrival - no lounge access if not in possession of same day onward boarding pass to show to the SQ greeters. This is strictly a departure lounge.

SIN departure - I would recommend taking showers in T3 SKL if time allows, even for T2 departures (such as DPS).The facilities are so much nicer in T3 SKL. Just know the SQ staff will initially try and tell you to got to T2 lounge, just say you prefer T3 and they let you in.

Happy showering!

Well, looks like another round is about to start successfully. We leave tomorrow, and are already checked in with AF. OLCI hiccuped an error, but a quick call to AF Web Support reveals we are checked in, with no issues on the ticket. Will update more when we're on the road. When we did this itinerary in May, we were just a couple days short of SQ's A380 service to Paris. The 77W was nice, but we're looking forward to the A380. We took EK F earlier in September on the A380 (the shower was a real novelty), and it will be interesting to see how the two compare. Some say SQ's J is close to F, and judging from past experience it's pretty close!!

AND if I'm successful in changing my return to the AF A380, that will give me a chance to compare a third company's whalejet experience. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

Something is wrong

Tried to check online today via AF.com using my PNR I have used without issue for the last 4 months, found nothing, no reservation. Used checkmytrip.com, cant find it. Something bad is going on, but I have 24 hours to figure this out. Megatop, how are you looking?

Get the Sabre PNR from Expedia. Go into the Expedia booking details and right-click in IE to view source. Search for "PNR TITLE" in the text. Then, go to VirtuallyThere.com. Create a free account. Login to the account. Add the Sabre PNR. And view the e-ticket.

**UPDATE**

AF and DL computers had problems linking today, all is well now. Phew, that scared me!

Looks like there might be an issue with the Amadeus system. I cannot retrieve mine either via CMT. Went to BA.com (hosted by Amadeus, like AF) where I have a few live bookings, none of them show at the moment - or are retrievable through CMT.

Give it an hr or two and try again - if there's a global issue w Amadeus it will never last long. Good luck - and do keep us posted!

** Update - a few minutes later, and all looks ok! Have a good trip, DLATL777!

At the T1 foodcourt. A380 here at JFK, balloons and festivities downstairs.

Check-in agent and one next to her thought we had a lot of flying ahead of us, wondered if we could have gone another route to get to Denpasar. I said I'd gone other ways, but we wanted to go this way this time.

Standby listed for earlier flight. Let's hope we clear. They said flights are quite full in Affaires tonight.

Currently enroute to you Megatop!; enjoying UA P.S. Business and WIFI at FL37000 about 3 hours out. My flights for tomorrow are also VERY full, AF is only selling seats on the late flight. Sounds like everything is going well so far, looking forward to flying that A380 on my return leg.

Standby cleared. Sitting on 777-300 for earlier flight to CDG. Bocoup happy.

9:30 oversold in J tonight.

Boarding this one, agent pulled a couple out of line and asked them to wait a minute. woman said, protesting
, "will we have to wait long?" you've just been op-upped to Premiere, take it easy! Or you can have my seat and I'll take your BP.

From my BlackBerry, en route at last.

At SKL Lounge

Hi everyone,

Writing now from the SKL lounge at T3 ("you know your flight to Bali leaves from Terminal 2, and there's a lounge there as well; yes we know, we'd like to use this lounge please; OK welcome"). Enjoying my soya milk, dim sum and duck congee after an excellent flight from Paris.

Some impressions:

AF from JFK to CDG was pretty typical, nothing much to write home about. The 77W is a little nicer than the 772 and the seats do seem somewhat newer and flatter, but it's still a 2-3-2 configuration and it would suck to be in the middle seat. The mini-cabin right behind first only has two rows, so it felt nice and private. The cabin crew were attentive, friendly, and stylish as usual, but still didn't clear glasses before takeoff and were largely absent during the flight. The captain was a real hoot, as we were pulling out of the gate he came on the PA to proudly proclaim the AF A380 in the gate next to us. When we landed in Paris he came on the PA again and said "We are 20 minutes early and the sun is starting is to shine. More evidence that this is a good life." Cheery guy!

We cleared immigration in 2E. The lines were very long but we went straight to Acess No. 1, showed our BP, and waited less than a minute to clear the very fast immigration officers. We walked from 2E to 2C to the little unmarked cave known as the Arrivals Lounge. They let my wife and I use a "grande salon", a larger than normal shower room. Although it's hard to find, this lounge is well worth the walk from 2E.

From 2C we took the VAL to Terminal 1. Checked in with SQ without any problems, and since it was running close to boarding time we went straight to the gate and skipped the SQ lounge. Security took a while, so we're glad we did that.

The SQ A380 is absolutely fantastic. We were in Row 14 in the little mini-cabin in front of the plane. The seats are definitely wider than SQ 77W, and very, very comfortable for sleeping and lounging. I've always found catering out of CDG to be comme ci comme ca, but the food on the flight was really fantastic. Service was extraordinary too. SQ truly sets the standard for international business class. Nothing else I've flown comes even close.

Only 3 drawbacks worth mentioning. First, the upper deck overhead bins are much smaller than anything in a 777. It's not as small as the UD of a 747, but think old-style 757 or 767 overhead bins. I didn't notice this when flying on EK since we were in F and our roll-aboard fit comfortably in the suite upstairs. Second, the SQ A380 does not have a tail or forward camera. As an aviation enthusiast, I miss that. It also does not have air vents in the cabin. Our last 2 hours into SIN was very choppy, choppy enough the captain asked FA's to sit down. Turbulence doesn't really bother me, but we were in the middle 2 seats, all the windows were drawn, no outside camera (so no horizon to look at), so it was uncomfortable. Third, the cabin was too warm, I got quite airsick with the turbulence and lack of fresh air. The bathrooms do have an air vent and after standing in front of the air vent for a few minutes I felt a lot better.

We're off to Bali (looking forward to my Book the Cook Nasi Lemak) in about an hour. Happy travels to all of you also on this ticket!
