I disagree with this, as I posted in the SQ forum.

(You were probably on the upper deck of the A380, and A345 isn't that bad - I used to love to fly on this a/c!)
I will have a look on the SQ forum however the seats on the 345 are narrower and they have center bins on the 345 so a LOT less room. Also 100% the 380 is MUCH MUCH quieter! Its a massive difference. Oh and lol do a seat measure the seats on the 345 are narrower.. LOL take a look at the 2nd last row in business class center seat thats a REAL 380 seat notice the difference in size [the make up mirror is the first clue.]

In CDG ticket counter we asked the Delta ticket could we come back on the SIN-EWR instead of CDG and he said no problem and changed all 4 tickets?
So I guess its allowed because we did it. Oh it was done in less than 5 minutes we just had to call SQ to book our seats and meals.

Well I made it home.

The signature below has most of the pictures added. There will be a couple additions/changes over the weekend.

A few load factors for those who care,

JFK-CDG AF 77W, J cabin about 30%
CDG-ARN AF 321, J cabin 8/12 seats occupied
ARN-BKK TG 744, J cabin full. Y+ looked to be full
BKK-HKG TG 744, J cabin full.
HKG-SIN SQ 772, J about 1/3 filled. The curtain was closed between F/J. Not sure why, it looked like F was empty. Y about 2/3 full
SIN-DPS SQ 772, J about 20% filled.
DPS-SIN SQ 772, J about 80% filled.
SIN-CDG SQ 380, R -I know 4 were filled, 4 were empty, not sure about the other 4. J 20/60 filled, Y most people had 3-4 seats to themselves.
CDG-JFK AF 77W, J full.

Enjoy your travels. A special thanks to those who figured out *A routings on this fare.
Hope to see some of you at the DO next week!

I'm back at JFK from my trip. Overall it was fantastic. Singapore Airlines was great. The hard product is wonderful, the flight attendants excellent and the overall impression very good. The Changi airport in Singapore is also great, except for the whole liquid carry-on ban.

Bali was amazing. Very hot still but full of energy and terrific people. I wish I had spent more time there.

I was able to change my ticket by calling Delta from Bali. No issues with the SMS line. The only snag was that the updated flight didn't reflect in Singapore's system. So when I called Singapore Airlines it still showed my old flight. Of course the agent could see the new ticket and she changed it over to the new flight (same routing, just took the earlier flight to SIN).

The big let down on the whole trip was Air France and CDG airport. AF is a dreadful airline and I'll never willingly fly them again. The in-flight experience on the outbound was great but things went downhill from there. After losing my luggage between JFK and CDG, I received my bag 2 days later in Bali. AF tagged the wrong bag in New York and they ended up sending some other person's bag to Bali 24 hours after I arrived. I felt sorry for that passenger. My bag made it another 24 hours later, one day before leaving Bali. And then to top it off, they've lost my bag again today on the return flight from CDG to JFK! At this point it's comical since I'm home and don't really care that much. They're going to FedEx it to my final destination tomorrow (it'll be arriving at JFK later tonight).

Thanks again to tracon for finding this fare and all the others that have posted their experiences on it. I'll be finishing up my trip reports over the next few days since internet access was spotty in Bali and slow at SIN and CDG.

Thanks for the report! Sorry to hear about your experiences with AF, it's hard to believe they lost your luggage TWICE! It's as bad as United losing the guitar guy's bags.

I just asked at the connections desk - had a nice chat with the guy - and said I'd like to stay a few days in Singapore before heading to Bali. He said sure, should be no problem... a few key taps, and it was done.

I wasn't going to escalate to a supervisor or anything... but it seemed to be no problem. In general, I have never had problems asking for stopovers directly with airlines on several occasions on J/F fares, even those that technically have a HIP-check. I find that if you're friendly and polite, there's a lot that can be done for you

On the question of skipping Bali, I was just curious... I know this would typically be difficult but hey - they seem to be going out of their way to allow flexibility on this. Didn't end up bothering. Switching to the direct to EWR, for example, is awesome... wish I had done that!

Back from Bali

No problem flying either direction JFK-CDG-SIN-DPS.

Wonderful time diving in Bali, visiting Paris and NY as layovers.

Notes:

CDG - you must change terminals by bus, plan on 45 mins. Then take an escalator ( on your right) down and over to the OTHER terminal. A bit tricky as at your arrival hour there'll be no staff, including at the SIN desk where you'd expect to get your boarding pass. To get your SIN boarding pass, pass THROUGH security (just show your itinerary ) and go to the far left, around the horseshoe.

SIN/DPS Lounges - quite nice. SIN's business class lounge... wow... I wish they were ALL like that!

Interesting to see on ALL flights the IFE pretty much had problems doing just about anything. Seems to be epidemic to the industry. The A380 Business class is a winner... the A380 is VERY quiet, and the staff incredibly helpful and responsive. The seats are great.

BALI - hotel coke can (Intercontinental) - 45,000. Across the street/restaurant: 7,000. I heard they're cheaper than 5,000 at the market. After driving through Ubud, I am now souvenir shop saturated for at least the next year.

Didn't see Julia Roberts. Heard she was at the Four Seasons.

Exchange rate at airport 9300 == $US 1.

CDG - Paris Visite 1 day pass was 18,50 euros. Good if you are going to ride the Metro a lot.

CDG - was told nearest luggage storage was at Gare du Nord. What???? Well... went there and used the lockers. The lockers are WAY over outside the RER B area.. you need to exit with your ticket. ( put in bag, close door, put in money in a center console, it'll print out a receipt with a CODE# at bottom. When coming back, put in your code, and the door pops open )

CDG - airport food is way overpriced... and 4 Euros for a Soda? Most of the food in the food court looked pretty inedible, considering you're in France! Eat in the City.. Air France business class lounge feels more like a low end domestic US lounge, especially after SIN's business lounge.

Flavored Maille mustards from Madeleine... wonderful souvenirs for friends... but unfortunately considered "liquid" by French TSA equivalent. I should have known.

JFK - Immigration line (both sections were 2 to 3 hours ). There were THREE immigration desks open for the US resident half. Someone ahead of me raised a stink and they escalated the 12 or so US passport carriers to our own line. Felt horrible for the other 700+ people being herded into the immigration hall like a Shanghai Subway at rush hour.

Waited 1+ hour for a shuttle to the Hampton Inn 3 minutes away. 'nuf said.

Air Train/Subway to the city was $7.25 each way.. If you are going to use the subway more, I think it's cheaper to get a normal metro card. That's $8.00 for $9.20 value.

JFK - security line going back... Premier line was so slow ( with it's single dedicated x-ray machine) that even the pre-screener looked annoyed and commented on it.. she had to stop everyone because there was no room past her station for anyone else.. for 20 minutes. We watched as the non-Premiers sailed past us in a continuous flow. YMMV.

Thanks for the great write-up and tips. JFK sounds like a nightmare.

I'll add one tip -- upon arrival into CDG on the outbound, rather than heading to Terminal 1 to find SQ is closed, head to 2C and use the AF arrivals lounge, where you can take a nice shower and grab breakfast, in a very decent lounge. It's landside, so you'll have to clear immigration, either upon arrival or take the bus airside to 2C, then clear immigration. After a couple hours there (and updating us on FT on your flight on the free PC of course and using OLCI for your SQ flight) then take the train to T1 to collect BP's from SQ before heading to the Star lounge for a second shower if you like being very clean.

Glad to hear more reports of incident-free trips. Keep 'em coming. Not too long to wait for my trip now.

I would second the recommendation for the AF arrivals lounge at 2C. Also note that there is a luggage storage service (not lockers) at CDG 2A just inside the terminal at a very little kiosk (they take your bags elsewhere to store them) adjacent to the curbside wall of windows.

I'm writing from the Air France Lounge at JFK (T1) and am happy to report that check-in was virtually seamless. I used the kiosks to check-in but due to an equipment swap from a 777-200 ---> 777-300 the system would not let me check-in and I was assisted by an airline rep. Unfortunately I lost seat 4A, but 6A shall suffice. The Air France lounge is very nice -- I'm the only person occupying the second floor, currently. Will try and report back from CDG in the morning.

Bon voyage, Robert. Please report again from CDG or HKG/SIN while en route.

Also, if you went standby on an earlier/later flight leaving JFK, that'd be good to know.

I've made it to Paris. This is my first time transiting CDG and it certainly isn't easy! Our flight arrived into Terminal 2E, and I proceeded to the AF Arrivals Lounge in 2C, but had to go thru security and passport control. I found a bus that goes to 2C, so I got on it and made the 5 minute ride to the new terminal. The showers at the Arrivals Lounge are a welcomed relief after the overnight flight.

I'm now in the Star Alliance Lounge in Terminal 1 awaiting to board SQ 333 to Singapore.

MegatopLover -- I didn't stand-by for an earlier flight as I was on the first departure flight of the evening to CDG (4:50 PM).

Bonjour from the centre of Paris :-)

Happy and relieved (once again) to see you made it incident-free. Just one note on your comments there. Transiting through CDG is really not as bad as people here make it to be. In your case, you actually consciously made it more complicated by going from 2E to 2C and then to 1. For future reference, ADP (the airport operator) has an interactive guide to connections here:
http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/ADP/e...ection-flight/

But it really is a matter of following the signs...

Enjoy SQ and the rest of your trip, Robert!
