Am I going to need to Call (don't worry, not yet) Expedia to try and get on the earlier flight or AF(there is not a later one considering I am on the 11:50pm)?
Further, are they going to charge me to make this change as this is the initial flight of my itin?
Personally, I would leave it and book another one with the times/dates you want, then cancel the one you don't want when the deal is gone.
One way to get around the flight timing issue is to use a different routing. If you want to overnight in CDG then you either need to arrive later or leave earlier. To arrive later add in a connection on the way to CDG. If that is a pain, simply add in a small hop from CDG to another euro gateway in the morning and take a HKG flight from there.

SQ is more expensive that others.. comes around 2180$. Didn't get my ticket number yet though.
