1) My connection time at CDG is roughly 90 mins from AF to CX--that is, from Terminal 2E to 2A. Do you think this will be ok in terms of transit/connection time? And if I miss this flight, what then? Will I be on an AF or CX flight? For what it's worth, my ticket is on CX ticket stock.
2) Yeah, I suspected pulling the "full-fare" card might be a stretch. Has anyone had experience with the JFK AF check-in staff? Are they usually friendly and will allow standing by for an earlier flight? Or, do they usually pull the KL dragon phrase: "That is not possible."?
1) 90 mins should be absolutely fine. The airside bus goes 2E->2C->2A->2B->2D->2F, so it should not take you too long. You could even easily walk from 2E to 2A (~10 mins max), though I *think* this has to be done landside.
If you do happen to miss your flight, then bear in mind there are 2 CX flights CDG-HKG (though not every day), currently at 14:00 and 19:10. I don't know if your current connection is on the first one, if so, then you will most likely be accomodated on the second one. Otherwise, CX will probably let you fly on the AF flight (or another route straight to your final destination).
2) In general, non-US airlines treat requests for standbys for an earlier flight as a regular request for a change in the original booking so I am guessing this will be the case here.

Phoned TG&SQ for seat selection today.
When TG pulled up my ARN-BKK(B744) leg she could only display the F cabin. She put me on hold for a few minutes and came back to confirm I'd be in the F cabin.
Maybe it's two classes of service on a 3 cabin airplane.

I booked one ticket via SYD, ticketed on SQ stock. SQ apparently just contacted my TA to say the fare wasn't valid! Will update as it plays out, but just a heads up that SQ are giving this one some belated scrutiny.

Unsusprising. They were the ones who had the biggest problems with the CMB-JFK AZ fares too. Be persistent with SQ, it paid off for me with the AZ fare.

No, I routed JFK-(DL)-CDG-(SQ)-SIN-(SQ)-SYD-(GA)-DPS//DPS-(SQ)-SIN-(SQ)-LHR-(AF)-CDG-(DL)-JFK....
Paid MPM surcharge on way out to swing by SYD and nab an extra A380 segment.
I may be confused with another long thread, but don't I remember something something in the fare rules that said you couldn't route through australia even though bookings sites allowed you to book and buy the itinerary?

I had issues with SQ on the CMB-JFK fare they were a huge hassle but being very persistent I did get what i wanted after $100 in phone calls.

I think Australia was permitted.

You cannot uphold American ideology with un-American actions. It's time for change.
On this fare, going down to Australia is perfectly legal since the fare applies between the United States and IATA Areas 2/3.
On the KUL-YYZ/YVR fare, it is a different story - these fares have a provision that they only apply via the North / Central Pacific... in that case, the airlines would have a viable argument that the fare is not valid to travel via Australia (= South Pacific) to North America or vice-versa. This portion of the fare is not checked in the autopricing process, so whoever would pay for any resulting "problems" is hard too tell (airline, GDS, travel agent, passenger...)
Many of us who bought this ticket were forced into a 4+ layover in CDG for the return. Has anyone who bought from Expedia been successful in calling Expedia to change the last leg (CDG-JFK) to an earlier flight, to avoid a long layover in Paris? I'd like to confirm an earlier flight if possible since I'm positioning to and from JFK (and the flights are over Thanksgiving). Anyone have success with Expedia and last leg changes?

There is certainly no point trying to change before taking the first leg since that will force a reprice of the whole itin. After you may have more luck by calling DL, the issuing airline. AF won't touch the ticket.
Personally, I'd get to CDG and go to the gate of the next JFK flight. You'll be much more likely to get on the flight that way with no hassles.
