UVAhoo06, welcome to the club of Nervous Nellies! I have about 3 hours to connect, but with limited mobility I need some extra time to move about. My bags should be checked through all the way to Bali, so my only concern is getting my SQ boarding pass. Going landside seems to be the simplest way to do so.

I'm not that familiar with CDG and don't know how long it would take you to get from 2E to 2A, landside. Assuming that CX doesn't have a transfer desk in 2E, this may be your best option to get a boarding pass. Flying in business the check-in process at the CX counter should go fairly quickly.

once you clear customs and immigration it shouldn't take over 15 minutes T2 2E to 2A, unless you get bogged down in the crowds. I go out to the side walk when I'm hoofing it in/out of 2A.

Glad I'm not alone in the Nervous Nellie club :P. If I check a bag at JFK, is it possible to ask them to route it only through to CDG where I can then pick up at baggage claim before heading to the CX counter (landside) at CDG and re-check my bags and get my BP? Or, would that eat up way too much time? People make luggage handling at CDG seem like it's a nightmare!

I'm fairly certain that there is no CX handling person at 2E transit desk. Should I call CX and ask, or would they not know? I know I should be totally relaxed and enjoying this opportunity, but nothing would suck more than losing your bags AND getting stranded in a foreign country where the US dollar is essentially worthless--at least from the perspective of someone who's a school teacher .

Just check your bag all the way through to DPS when you check in at JFK. Again, people do this every day. Your bag will probably make it, if not, you'll file a claim in DPS and they'll deliver it to you at your hotel ASAP.

Looks like we're first

Looks like we may be among the first to fly this ticket, at least among FT who write. Mrs. Bangkokiscool and I leave tomorrow on the 4:30 AF to CDG, then the 12:30 SQ to SIN on Sunday, then on to DPS. Will report if we encounter any problems, but not anticipating any. Keep it simple (no bags), under the radar (no upgrade requests), and planning to enjoy SQ's 77W while it lasts on the CDG-SIN route.

Best wishes for a safe and enjoyable trip. And an uneventful checkin.

If you can, give us all a quick post from the AF lounge at JFK or the lounge at CDG.

BTW: Is this an unusual "good deal" fare in that the ticketing carrier is not the first operating carrier? More to the point, if the ticket appears valid and confirmed in the global system, what motivation would AF have for dishonoring a DL ticket? I assume AF and the other operating carriers will get whatever their agreement with DL provides, so what's the difference to AF? Unless, I suppose, DL only pays AF a percentage of the fare applicable to that segment; but even if that's the way it works, surely there's a minimum the issuing carrier must pay.

Have a great and safe journey! As I'm traveling on the same itinerary next month, I'm eagerly awaiting your report.

Especially curious how you will obtain your SQ boarding pass at CDG. I am planning to go landside from 2E (AF) to Terminal 1 (SQ).

When will you be returning?

Back in 2 weeks, on May 31. We'll go landside in CDG to the Arrivals lounge in 2C since we have 6 hours in CDG before heading to Terminal 1.

OLCI is not working, AF's website is saying "unable to check in due to check-in restriction." I'm guessing it's because it's DL stock or something funny like that. We'll find out more at JFK tomorrow!

Not sure about that. After arriving in 2E this morning we hopped on an airside bus that was 2E 2C and 2D only, no T1 stop. CDG is as confusing as ever but the French are ever helpful for hapless Americans.

All is well so far. No SQ boarding pass yet but I imagine the check in desk is not open for a few hours. At the AF arrivals lounge in 2C right now which is damn near impossible to find and completely unadvertised on our flight from JFK.

By the way, although the arrivals lounge is landside past immigration and baggage claim it is very much worth the visit. Very decent shower rooms.

OLCI on SQ worked from the lounge so just need to find our way to T1 to collect boarding passes. Smooth sailing!

Great news. Looks like DL is quietly honoring the tickets without further ado. Just the way it should be. Thanks for being our guinea pig.

By now, bangkokiscool should be enjoying service from the Singapore Girls and Boys on the upper deck of the Whale somewhere over the Middle East. Nice place to be.

Very good news indeed! Alas, the SQ 'Whale' won't be making its maiden voyage to CDG until June 1st. Same newly updated seats on the 777-300ER though!
