I assume your trying to cancel the DPS Itinerary since you find this new one better suited for your "needs"? Or just that you can no longer go on either trip?
I'm just curious.
Exactly - my "needs" called for a one way award to Asia and a One Way Asia-Canada

Do you have a copy of the fare rules somewhere? They might even have been posted on this thread. The fare basis is "CR", which is fully refundable. Call again. If they try to say it was a mistake fare, how were you supposed to know?! You were quoted a price and a certain set of conditions, they should honour both! THAT is your contract with them.
I told her my ticket is on DL Stock , they were saying AF issued the ticket and they say Non Ref. (which was wrong as my ticket is clearly DL issued)
I told them that I knew that refunds were issued by my colleagues, and I was also reading text from the fare rules to the agents. After about 3.5 Calls they finally are refunding it.

I wonder if I can arrange a stopover in paris on the way back. The way this reads it should be ok?
Completely and utterly NO, that is if you want no extra charges. The stopover would be free, but the HIP check would kick the price up $$$$. You may get an agent willing to change it for you, but you risk being denied boarding when you go back for your final sector(s).
General rule. The phrase "UNLIMITED FREE STOPOVERS PERMITTED" means just that, and not more. The stopover itself is free and that is all. What you want to see in fare rules is "HIP MUST BE IGNORED". In combination with the former this is
In this case, HIP is NOT waived, so any trying to work in stopovers is at your own risk.
I've found Expedia agents to vary widely in the past, with some very helpful and knowledgeable and willing to hit cancel and refund immediately (on refundable fares), and others more cautious, sometimes wanting to put you on hold for a long time while they read every line of the fare rule and sometimes call the airline to ensure it's refundable.
I've also had one experience in the past where the refund was processed, but didn't hit my credit card for several weeks. I called back expedia, gave them the "case number" for the refund (different from itinerary number), and they told me the refund got "stuck" and will be processed because I called and it hit my credit card a week later. So keep that refund ID number handy, it doesn't show up online once you've canceled a reservation.
On a related note, Delta posted a $794 million quarterly loss today, its sixth straight quarterly loss, and is implementing a $50 fee to check a second bag on international flights, which is expected to generate $100 million a year. I've been thinking about this mistake fare, and I'm not so sure Delta will lose any money on this fare. As others have pointed out, it's still $2200 in revenue per ticket. It'll be interesting to see what the loads are when people start flying these tickets, but SQ/AF/DL/CX/etc are all probably happy to see a revenue passenger in the seat in this economy.
.......it's still $2200 in revenue per ticket........
That's only if all flights are online. Most FTers booked flights with many interline segments. DL has to pay other airlines for those segments and may lose money as a result.

Well, lets hope Delta honors the fare it seems that all signs are pretty good. I guess we've been "good," by not calling, and making it an issue with Delta.

Don't be so confident in assuming the answer would be no. DL's reprice engine can't auto-reprice etickets with non-DL marketed OAL operated space, requiring a manual reissue. For those holding 006 stock, your average DL reissue trained rep will first see CR and think "oh and unrestricted fare basis" and then see "unlimted free stopovers permitted" and would most likely proceed with that return stopover in Paris. If the ticket was reissued I would feel quite confident checking in for that flight back to New York days later.
