I was late to the party, but it seems like the cool kids have been having a lot of fun.

I'd rather join them instead of calling someone's mommy/daddy.

Now that we're finally old enuf let's play...

Don't tell all the secrets, please.

I'm nobody but 1 poster on here. With that said the more information that is plainly given out on here opens it up to more people. Some of those people reading could be a guy who isn't invested in FT much and maybe isn't even a registered user but can gleam the holy grail information by not even having to put in 5 minutes of research.

From there he could disseminate it however he wishes and probably would be careless since he didn't have to invest anything to get the information in the first place. Make someone work for it and they will safeguard it and protect it.

This can lead to many scenarios, none of which will be positive for all of us on here who know and use this information.

Do we really want that to happen?

We can be caretakers of this info or be careless with it.

Not chastising anyone for helping others, but it has been a longstanding right of passage to make others research the thread first. Ignore groveling and requests for PM's. If that poster put in the research, they should be able to figure it out. If they can't, then they can't. Just because someone is a member doesn't mean they are entitled to sensitive information which if more widely known could cause an end to it's existence.

If you really are stumped at the end of research a detailed PM asking for fill in the last gap is fine. However the PM's that say, "I have tried to figure out this riddle wrapped inside a conundrum and I guess I'm just not good enough at puzzles. Can you please tell me how to do a FD?"

If someone PM's me about FD's, I have a standard answer of, "I have a policy not to divulge specific information about FD's. All the information you need is in the trick it/ negotiate it thread. I suggest reading the thread and taking notes for several hours and I think you will find it solved." If someone is a long time member or has many posts I will help more and more as I see appropriate.

People can do as they please, however please give it some thought before simply posting specific information out in the open.

Let's not forget the law of unintended consequences: If people can't get help privately, they are more likely to "agitate" in public, here as well as at other forums (inviting others to visit this thread to crack the code etc), which can only bring in more unwanted attention to the phenomenon itself.

Agree about keeping this thread under control. We can all begin by editing our own past posts here.

+1
While I figured out tricking/FDing months ago (from ALOT of reading), I have not been able to take advantage of these opportunities. It would be nice if they are still available when I'm read to do so.

Hey.

Any opportunities out of BOS to anywhere?

Up north is too cold right now to burn cash.

Um, nobody GOES up north.....

And in answer, I currently don't see anything. But that could change in a heartbeat. That's part of the "fun".

Good point.

Just wondering if I was missing something. It's really frustrating - I'd like to make some plans for January break but I'm not paying 700+ per ticket.

Leisure/MR out of PDX in Jan.

I have been looking at doing some leisure travel (not "pure") MR's out of PDX in 2010. (Note: This is my first MR post). Looking in my orb for January I found:

PDX-(ORD-IAD)-FCO
(stay 2 nights)
FCO-(IAD-LAX)-OGG
(stay 2 nights)
OGG-(SFO)-PDX

18,990 miles (Jan. 2010, so no DEQM) for $1,110ai. With nearby FD, I got $884ai, 4.6 CPM.

Tried and bombed on the bomb. But found something more expedient:

PDX-(LAX-IAD)-FCO
(stay 1 night, due to LAX layover, haven't checked on 2 night stay)
FCO-(IAD-LAX-SFO)-OGG
(stay 2 nights)
OGG-(SFO)-PDX

19,978 miles at $907ai after FD, 4.5 CPM.

The fare class for all segments including IAD-FCO/FCO-IAD is economy.
If judging tolerance - flight duration given is 8 hours 41 min. IAD to FCO, 10 hours 28 min. FCO to IAD.

Expedia does not show a fare code, but .bomb shows an economy fare code of "L" for the same flight #'s (966/967) on a simple RT.

Hope this helps!

EXTREME MR. MXP-GRU-bus-GIG-BSB-GYN-GRU-LHR $ 322 ( 215 Euro ) + tax = $ 397 all-in

PM me for sample dates but only if you are genuinely interested ( i.e European based or UK / Milan based). Other dates / origin / connections at $ 50 extra.
GYN and/or BSB can be eliminated with fare staying same ( less 2x GYN BSB airport taxes ). SSA can be substituted for BSB for $ 10 more.
Prices out at ITA and Expedia and Travelocity but I have not yet actually purchased.
This an open jaw only, so passenger will have to buy separate O/W LHR - MXP. on european low cost carrier.
Eligible for 100 % MP accrual.

I am deliberately vague because I intend to use it several times next year.

dont wanna curb ur enthusiasm... but someone did post this deal few days back. but cool additions of GYN/BSB.

by the way... this is also available from FRA... can combine any of the two from FRA/MXP/LHR.

also, the fare is available only until the end of march - so if u wanna use it many times next year... u need to hurry

by the way, u can book it on xp.fr. turns out a bit cheaper than other websites - ofcourse, only if you are europe based. I am very inclined on jumping on this deal
