How to Upgrade?
Hey - I am booked on ANA ticket stock, flying NRT-SFO... how many miles is an Upgrade to First? And how do you check availability?

The required miles depends on what program you're using to do the upgrade.

You check availability through that program.

I'd be using UA miles - or could use Chase or Amex Membership Rewards to transfer to another program if that would save me miles...

Would love any advice as to the best way to do this for the fewest miles (assuming availability exists).

Through UA, it's 25k miles.

HND-ORD-YVR, but again I had an AC switch which put me in non-flat bed seats so that's why they were accommodating.

Anyone else have luck re-routing after equipment change? Unfortunately got a 788 equipment notification... Looks like they're flying regional config on the directs to HND. Japanese call center agent just quoted the standard change fee.

788 is scheduled until Oct. 20 so far.. subject to change of course.

Edit: extended overnight to Oct. 28

You guys realize there are 788's with lie-flats right? 788 vs 789 tells you nothing.

And right now the majority of the 787 flights from HND-YVR are lie-flat from what I see.

Unfortunately not correct. While there may be 788's with lie flats, the plane they're flying does not have them. 2-2-2 business cradles. Confirmed online and with agent.

It seems that they charge 10% of the current adult fare to add a lap infant to an already ticketed adult, which means I need to keep checking the adult fare daily...

did you try calling? I'm flying Vancouver to haneda on 16th but I haven't been notified of any schedule change

Did you book through an OTA or directly through ANA?

October 16th is definitely showing as a 788 with the cradle seat on ANA's website.

you're right. the 788's sent to YVR are cradles like they used to be from 2014-2016
