They told me that as long as the fare class is the same there is just a few of 350$.
I'm assuming the date stays the same?

If they allow us to change the dates for $350, I be all over it

He may have meant USD. 350 USD is close to 450 CAD

How did you get them to waive fare difference and only pay $350?
Well I just called and ask what would be the refund if I CX my return flight.
Said need to re-price it as a OW. Prices were 11k+ so was not a solution. Ask the price to change return date just to see.
She checked and told me she found same fare type (A for UA and Z for NH) for a return on the 01/10. She explained me that of fare type are the same, they only charge a change fee.

Quoted change fee of 350.00$.
Asked her if it was USD or CAD and she confirmed CAD.

I didn't even had to argue, she offered me this option right away.
Found it fair, as I didn't really wanted to CX the booking but flight out of SYD earlier.

That's all pretty much standard operating practice. Having flown the first sector locks in your fare, then your only worry is the change fee and finding availability in the same fare bucket.

So does that only work after I fly the first sector? Or If there's the same fare type available, would ANA allow to change both ways for the change fee only (and not add the fare difference)?

By the book, if you try to change the ticket before flying the first segment the agent should reprice it with the currently available fare (so much higher).

So should I get to YVR early enough to try to get swapped to the AC flight?

Has anyone had any luck on changing from the hnd to yvr flight free of charge or being re-routed?

Finally got the schedule change from United for the 788. I guess I'll call again later, now that it's "official".

United just rebooked me on NH 6815 YVR-NRT.

Given that I want to push for AC MM status, I guess I'm crediting this to AC.

I won't hit UA Gold this year. Oh well

Edit: For the adventures that followed, see And you thought the AC/AP buck passing was bad...

It looks like they've filed a DOT complaint about the equipment change (can't post a URL because it my first post; but there's a blog post about it.

I booked my ticket on Expedia, and there's like a 10 mins schedule change (departs from Tokyo to Sydney 10 mins earlier). Was anyone else able to cancel their ticket successfully? I'm really not looking forward to my trip on this J from the 90s

Here is the blog post that you mentioned.
http://loyaltylobby.com/2017/09/26/c...lar-complaint/

I don't think anyone who got in on this deal would be acting in good faith by filing a complaint, but if I had paid a normal fare, I'd be considering it.
