Original premium fare deal was for QR J class travel, originating in Vietnam (SGN and HAN) to several destinations across the Americas, Europe, and Africa. Travel period 8/2017 - 3/2018 inclusive, RT fares in the USD 500 - 700 range (USD $0.05 base fare).
Reports have now been circulating that all held, non-purchased fares have been canceled by the airline. Some held and then purchased fares were also canceled, but several reports indicate at least some of those have been re-instated.

This makes a lot of sense of the earlier comment that Qatar may have not noticed filing in VND instead of USD.
Not saying it was an error - I bought AMS/TYO in January and it was honored without question - I was too late for this one.
Best of luck to those who got it - and lets hope QR's tweets about more surprises coming today means more Golden Tickets!

Visa issue? QR gives a free visa when you have a stopover in DOH.

But this doesn't explain why the fare turned out to be so prevalent on so many routes across 4 different continents. My understanding is that each fare has to be filed individually for each route. Even if they copied the fare and applied it with floating rate to all these destinations, it still doesn't explain why some gateways are included while others aren't (BOS for example). My guess is that the ones where the promotion did apply are routes where they are seeing low load factors, and are forecasting to go out with empty seats. In those cases, the opportunity cost to provide this sale is otherwise very low
Though it's also possible they were looking to make history with the biggest golden ticket promotion

I believe the QR US site allows a 24 hour free cancel. I booked a similar priced J ticket on QR and they honored it. And if they don't, as long as they refund my money quickly, I'm down with it.
I recently got in on the EK MLE mistake fare - I didn't cancel, and EK cancelled - then reinstated - then said I can cancel at any time (but not make changes without refaring) or fly it. Pretty sick for the price I paid.
My point - generally, with more-established airlines, things seem to work out. In the small chance it doesn't - yes, it is generally unfair to the consumer, but if it wasn't meant to be...I chalk it up to, maybe I wasn't meant to go to X destination this time around. There is always a next time!

Have you applied already? It would seem sensical to apply ASAP after booking and note in the process (on a form) that you need priority processing given your impending flight date. I assume they would do their best to work with you (or cancel).

I can't say from experience in this instance - but many multi-day deadlines for what likely takes a couple of hours are just bureaucracy and padding.

Anyone got a screen shot showing the "Golden Ticket" column highlighted in gold? If so, can you please post it here.
As an AA ExecPlat I would have earned 46K RDMs. Figuring 1¢ a mile that means QR would have to pay out $460 for these miles on my $676 fare less about $200 in non-airline fees and taxes. In effect, the spurious Fuel Surcharge (from an oil producing Emirate when fuel is at its cheapest level in years) just about covers the cost of the FF miles that would have had to be purchased.
