thanks for the advice. I would not have thought of using Avios for that trip otherwise!. I just checked BA's site and unfortunately BA wants to charge ~$130 as surcharge so that's a no go considering you can buy the ticket for less than that.

I know!. I was just too quick to pull the trigger cos I am new to the traveling community on the whole (and have no prior experience with mistake fares) and my experience with slickdeals has made me an "Act fast, think later" guy. LOL.

@jinxeddeep - If I remember correctly any action on this ticket will cost more than ticket itself. Will just have to give it up.

@Jinxed - I did see the $100+ in charges.I was trying to book online and having trouble.So called my local BAEC center. I was quoted a totalof $42 for two SriLankan legs leading to MLE. So you might get a better answer there.

A lot of these tickets will probably end up not being flown as booked. MLE isn't by itself anything that special and the cost in money and time of going there and not dealing with misconnects and perhaps doing something beyond MLE is high enough that this won't be flown as ticketed by all that pursue flying on this route. I expect breakage rates to be high. 
I was thinking everyone who went to MLE would go to the Maldives. lol

Looking at just a random fare it seems no-show fee is assessed when rebooking

I actually found some workable Cathay J availability to get myself to CMB the week I booked my return ticket for.

Cancellation
My 2 tickets were cancelled just a few minutes ago. The notation in the GDS was: FARE LISTED IN ERROR-BKG CANCELLED-REBOOK AT
APPLICABLE FARE.
I was able to have the tickets voided out within the 24 hour cancellation period.
If someone is on the fence about actually using these it might be best to cancel today rather than wait until its too late to have tickets voided.
