SFO-LAX-NRT-CGK-NRT-LAX-SFO out 12/5 return 12/7 is $788, 18816 miles.
SFO-SEA-SFO day trip 12/8 is $183, 1356 miles.
You can also consider SFO-SIN-SFO out 12/5 return 12/7 for $827 - a couple thousand less miles than CGK and about $40 more, but a very simple MR. This can go along with SFO-EWR-SFO for around $270 most days from 1 to 15 December.

You probably want to make at least one trip to Asia to get most PQM's. eg IAH-NRT-SIN r/t should give you close to 20k - https://goo.gl/flights/dz8X. It costs around $800. The rest of your budget you can spend on your preferred destination and make up for the remaining PQM's.

UA miles run from Houston?

Need 22K miles by the end of the year (blackout 20-30th Nov). Ok to take a flight to BKK, but don't see good fares. Could add another short flight within US if 1 miles run to Asia won't do it.

Any suggestions on good deals?

Look at SIN or CGK, sample attached.

It's an ORD-PVG fare, but allows you to do an immediate turn to GUM.

Edit: Stopvover in GUM isn't allowed
For those looking to book a similar itinerary, I just got confirmation that this would require a Chinese visa. TWOV isn't possible as GUM and LAX are part of US.

You can visit the China TWOV forum for more information.

A couple of things that may prevent you from finding a good run. Budget and dates. Dec 22-31 are normally within blackout period so you would rarely find cheap fares on these dates; and if you did, it may only earn 50% if credited on AC.
