For each request, please include the following information:

Departure Airport:
Miles Needed:
Required Spend or Budget:
Available Travel Dates:
Required Metal or Codeshares okay*:

For each response. Please quote the original request. DO NOT START A SEPARATE THREAD.

----

NOTE: there is not much time left in 2017, given that travel tends to be expensive around holidays. You will have greater chances of success if you have greater flexibility on travel dates and cost. If you need a lot of MQMs on weekends only for < 5 cpm it probably won't happen.

Other creative possibilities depending how many MQMs you need:
----

*"Required Metal or Codeshares" is, approximately, asking whether you need a flight operated specifically by Delta or if partner flights are ok. If you are just looking for MQMs to hit a Medallion tier the normal way, then the answer is yes. If you are doing a status challenge, the answer is also probably yes, but read the T&C of your challenge carefully to be sure (for the regular status challenge the answer is also "yes")

NOTE: some partner flights earn MQMs at reduced rates. See this chart for more info.

An option is to do two MRs to PDX. $314 available on Dec 17, 18. A bit higher on Dec 19
LAX is $295 on Dec 24th

First Class to Boston will get you just over 5200 miles, $712 on Dec. 29 (AUS-ATL-BOS-ATL-AUS)

BUT...

In order to get Silver for 2018 you ALSO have to meet the $ requirement - either by reaching $3000 MQD or $25K for the Amex MQD waiver.

If you can't meet either the MQD for Silver or achieve the Amex MQD waiver, all MQMs earned in 2017 will be simply lost - no rollover if you don't make at least Silver..

In case the OP needs to meet the MQD requirements as well, then

MR to AUS-HNL on Dec 27 - 28 in First Class, $2416 (2275 MQD)

or to rack up some carryover miles

MR to SIN and about 22,000 miles

Dec 22 - 24, AUS-ATL-NRT-SIN-NRT-ATL-AUS, $2423, (2298 MQD)

Ummm ... it is very unlikely that you can get that mileage at those prices on the requested dates

DTW-SEA-ANC-SEA-DTW, Dec 23 - 24, $1104, 6800 miles, $1413 (First Class) - 10,000 miles

or

Dec 21 - 23, DTW-LAS-DTW, 3500 miles, $387 (E)
Dec 22, LAS-MSP-FLL-ATL-LAS, 5100 miles, $518

LAS - FLL leaves shortly after midnight so no hotel required the evening of the 21st; but hotel required the evening of the 22nd on the return from FLL

Last edited by canuck_traveler; Dec 16, 2017 at 10:15 pm Reason: add Las Vegas with nested FLL option

DTW-FLL is $321 roundtrip on 12/20 (BE fare). Also, if you drive up to FNT, seeing FNT-CVG at $203 roundtrip on 12/20 ($253 in main cabin). Also available on 12/19.

This is a bit outside the usual request for this thread, but I have the following itinerary booked:

2/24 DL6276 DTW-IAD 09:00AM-10:32AM (V)
2/24 DL3959 IAD-JFK 03:30PM-04:54PM (V IT Fare)
2/24 DL0410 JFK-MAD 07:35PM-09:00AM (V IT Fare)
3/3 DL0109 MAD-ATL 10:15AM-02:24PM (V IT Fare)
3/3 DL2811 ATL-DCA 04:35PM-06:19PM (V IT Fare)
3/4 DL0792 DCA-DTW 07:30AM-09:14AM (V)

I estimate that the IT fare will earn 870 MQDs (Cost around $370), however it turns out I don't want to spend the week in Madrid. Is there any cheap way for me to get back to Michigan, or potentially any other US city? I'd prefer not to throw away these tickets, but I don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money to keep them.

These are my calculations: Google sheet

In the classic fashion:

Departure Airport: MAD
Miles needed: Get to DTW for the week
Budget: Minimize
Metal or Codeshare: Dont care

Delta mileage run - 11k to hit diamond

I’m hearing rumors that Delta will be increasing the mileage to hit diamond next year, so I figured I would try to hit it while I can...

Departure Airport: DTW
Miles Needed: 11,000
Required Spend or Budget: $500-700
Available Travel Dates: 12/22 - 12/31 (excluding Christmas Eve/day)
Required Metal or Codeshares okay*: Yes
Another option/question: has anyone ever used “elevate your status” to purchase MQMs? Is it worth it?

The mileage requirement is not increasing. They are increasing the Amex $25K spend MQD Waiver amount to $250K for next year. 11,000 MQM's out of DTW in this year for $500 - $700 is not going to happen. You could do YYZ - NRT on 12/25 - 12/27 for $1242 CAD (around $987 USD).
