Is there a greater chance of the fare being honoured if I pay for it now?

I've never done one of these, but as a general rule I think it's best to book and hope for the best. But don't book any non-refundable hotels. If it's not honoured you get your money back.

Great find, BTW. EDIT...managed to get it priced on AA.com just feeding in the dates etc.

Incidentally, J fares that you can actually book on AA.com or on BA.com are in the CAD $2100 range. cardofferc code gets you another 10% off.

Great find, BTW, how did you get to book on the AA site? I can't get the link on GF and don't want to call in.

search directly on aa.com.

for the j fare you mentioned, there is a chance that the aarp discount may also work on ba.com? or is it strictly US origin?

Thanks. I read through a good deal of the 129 page wiki. I guess I will just pay for the tickets now and hope for the best since it seems that AA does not honour holds. How soon after booking should I expect cancellation by AA?

I've had one of my 'mistake fare' itineraries cancelled two weeks after ticketing. Could be anytime.

That being said, this seems to be a fairly small and low-profile mistake, so I'm not sure if AA really cares as much.

This is and will likely be a small scale and small impact event, so I don't think it will be cancelled. Based on past history with similar BA/AA events, they have cancelled some J fares up to 10 days after booking, so if it gets past a couple of weeks it should be generaly quite safe.

Also save a screen shot on google flights and on AA showing W fare code. They might try to stuff you in economy because that's "what you paid for". You can't select seats on BA until 24 hrs prior to departure so want to avoid last minute surprises.

Put it on hold a few hours ago and now when I go to purchase, I get a price change notification that it is $5 more expensive. ...?

It's also giving me the old "our system is having trouble" business when I go to purchase. Does that mean this is over?

Thanks, OP.

I just booked and paid on aa.com, but status says 'On Request', no ticket number yet.

YVR-LHR 27OCT AA6218 Booking Class: W
LHR-PRG 28OCT AA6635 Booking Class: Y
PRG-LHR 15NOV AA6634 Booking Class: Y
LHR-YVR 15NOV AA6219 Booking Class: W
C$ 1162 all in (USD 922)

Crediting it back to BA for Avios and TP.

If you are still hunting, you can get YVR-MUC-YVR C$895 or YVR-DUS-YVR C$878. Dates out 24OCT, return 1NOV.

Update: e-Tickets received. Went into BA website, seats reserved in WT+. So, all good.
