But flying 7 PHL-LAS roundtrips in such a short timeframe (with potential winter weather, no less) is just too painful to me -- I just wouldn't get enough benefit out of the status.

That said, for those crazy enough to do it, from PHL, I would take one of the evening nonstops to LAS and then red-eye it home. Buy each ticket individually on Priceline for the $5 rebate from topcashback, so each roundtrip is $70.20. If you don't have one, I would get an AMEX plat card (I think the Ameriprise is still free) so you can sit in the new Centurion Lounge in LAS for your brief layovers (it's near the US gates) and have a free dinner, too. And I'd personally spring for the Plat challenge to make it more bearable.

Clearly a great deal. But 7x in 2 months? You'd have to be a bit nuts. Or maybe just young and single -- there's no way you'd find a significant other crazy enough to do this.
Wow---you just described every scenario in my book! I still have the $500 credit from AMEX Plat for dropping Admirals Club access so I figure why not put it to good use.

Thanks for the info though I was planning on using the Centurion lounge but wasn't sure how close it would be.

But you're absolutely right...6 unnecessary red-eyes in two month, I'm definitely a bit nuts

Blogs are posting this

Hurry and book. They're even lifting the strategy others suggested earlier for the challenges.

This thing is pretty much tanked unless you're local to PHL or LAS and can swing the mid-week turns. Shame, a terrific MR.

I saw this when I was out this afternoon(in HKG atm). Saw decent availability when I got home. Now I can barely find a same day turn let alone a decent itinerary

Snagged a 2/4 same day PHL-LAS. Looks like it's still available.

Yeah, I was flying US back from LAS earlier this month, and the lounge was across from my gate. These are great lounges -- at least by comparison to anything else in the USA. Plenty of free food and drink, and comfortable. Having an AMEX plat card for the admission would be insanely useful to anyone crazyenough to have repeated, pointless layovers at LAS!

I got a couple with overnights in LAS. At least it's the land of cheap rooms.
