Dear all,

I would appreciate some advice from you on the following issue. I have used UA for my long haul travel to the US and Latin America for several years. Due to a close relative's severe illness (who eventually fully recovered) my family and we have been unable to travel as we usually do.

This year I will reach approximately 70 *A segments, but I have not flown United metal.

I am based in Copenhagen (CPH). I have been looking for UA segment runs. I suppose the easiest way to reach the segments is a quick trip to the US. I am inteterested in an itinerary with which I will go to the US and return the day after. However, these itineraries seem to be very expensive on United.com

I hope some of you can come up with some advice on how to get four segments on UA in a quick and fast way when based in Europe.

Are you looking for four segments on UA metal to qualify for UA status, or four segments that will credit to UA?

I'm assuming you need 4 segments on UA metal?

Since UA doesn't fly to CPH, that automatically means a non-UA positioning segment. So I believe you need 2 segments in each direction after that on UA metal.

I think maybe New York-LaGuardia (LGA) may work:

As an alternative to a mileage run, is it possible to get a MileagePlus Club Card at a foreign address? Here's an excerpt from United's Premier Status Qualification Requirements page:

Waiver for four-segment minimum

• If you hold a MileagePlus Presidential Plus Card or a United MileagePlus Club Card, you are exempt from the four-segment minimum as long as you are the primary Cardmember and your Credit Card account is in good standing at the time of qualification.

If this is possible, it would be easier to do this for $400USD...and get lounge access as a bonus.

Sorry if the answer is posted elsewhere, I haven't been able to find it so far.
