DO NOT CALL THE AIRLINES UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE WHILE A DEAL IS STILL ACTIVE.

Fare is gone: You can safely add your frequent flyer number, get seat assignments and poke about in your itinerary.

Checking Your Tickets

Check Alitalia status: https://mm.alitalia.com/us_en/BOOKING/Apvsearch.aspx
(middle names should be included with the first name without a space IN CAPITAL LETTERS. For example, First Middle O'Last becomes "FIRST MIDDLE" "O LAST"):

Check KLM/AF status: http://www.airfrance.us/cgi-bin/AF/U...rRbkAction.do?
(may also work to change/select seats. A name like O'Last becomes "Olast")

Check Ticket Details: http://www.saudiairlines.com/portal/...rlines/Welcome
Double Check: http://www.checkmytrip.com

Will this ticket be honored?

Based on the history of these deals and the US Department of Transportation rules you should be fine if you have a ticket number.

If your JFK-MXP flight shows as cancelled on the KLM website and the Alitalia website gives an error, don't worry about it. That having been said, there are several people about to do this, and if you're one of them please share you experience on this leg (if you cannot edit the wiki, PM WhIteSidE).

Wanna know your booking class?
Go to Delta.com:

Home > My Delta > My Trips > Trip Details > VIEW RECEIPT

Will I earn miles?

If you are in this for miles be aware that you may not earn miles.
  1. Delta: Booked on carrier websites: Yes. Despite earlier concerns, it appears that these fares will earn, miles on DL even if booked via priceline, as reported by cataclysmicvoid.
1.1. For 006 ticket with flight operated by AZ probably not. See this post. Please report back your experience.
  2. Alaska: No on AZ segments. No on most AF/KL segments because of the fare code. No on DL segments if not booked on 006 stock. No on DL if booked into O class. Yes on DL segments if you have a 006 ticket stock.
  3. KLM: Yes (will be at 50% or 25% depending on the exact fare booked)
  4. Air France: Yes (will be at 50% or 25% depending on the exact fare booked)
  5. Alitalia: Yes (will be at 50% depending on the exact fare booked)

More generally, these very cheap fares will typically not earn full miles. In some ways, AZ may be a good program to earn to as it appears many of the AF and KL flights that would earn 25% into their programs will earn 50% into AZ. It seems that most people departing from JFK are booked in O class which may not have much earning. Some people departing from LAX have V or other classes which do have earning benefits. The most earning will probably occur on an 057 (AF) or 074 (KL) ticketed and operated flight, credited to AS, if and only if the fare class is one of those listed as eligible on the Alaska earning website.

Greetings from Tokyo,
Have had no issues on our trip JFK-mxp- prg- nrt. All seats were done ahead of time on the AF site even though we flew on Klm. Alitalia was a breeze even though showed as canceled and was never able to pull it up. Miles have been crediting to delta.

Safe travels

Thanks for the update! I have the exact same itin in one month and have not been worried since I see it all on Delta and Air France sites, but great to know someone else has done it with no issues.

UPDATE:

Sitting in the executive lounge of my hotel in Prague (Hilton Old Town) enjoying a few beers with the friend I am traveling with and I get a call from KLM. My AMS-NRT is overbooked and they want to reroute me on Lufthansa PRG-FRA-NRT. Being a oneworld flyer I managed to negotiate the rebooking on to CX/JL AMS-HKG-HND in H/Y full earning booking classes. Also got €150 cash compensation (was offered €300 in DL/AF/KL vouchers but knew I would never use it). All in all I am a very happy traveler!

Thanks to this post, I tried seat assignment online but couldn't. I call up Alitalia and they said I have a "10 min flight change" and they have sent it to my OTA(orbitz) to confirm it with me. I call up orbitz and the first thing they say is "there is bunch of changes to my flight"..uhoh
My original itinerary is SFO-JFK-FCO-BUD, leaving Dec 24th.
After 30 minutes(agent was on the phone with AZ), they tell me my SFO-JFK flight is preponed by 3 hrs(see post1451.html) and JFK-FCO is canceled. I do a quick search and find out that AZ is still selling tickets so that certainly is not true. Put on hold for another 15minutes and now they are telling me that FCO-BUD flight is canceled "due to Christmas"
Having learned a lesson not to trust they say, I do quick search on AZ and see that the flight is still available. Put on hold for another 5 minutes, but this time the flight disappears from their site as well as OTAs.
So now I'm being offered same flights on 12/23rd OR 12/26th OR do SFO-JFK as scheduled(stay overnight in JFK) and take JFK-FCO-BUD on 12/25.
I haven't accepted any changes, and I have insisted that I have to be in Budapest on Christmas day.
So what are my options now?
Can I push Orbitz to accommodate me on DL/AF SFO-JFK-CDG-BUD?
OR
build up my risk tolerance and just show up at the airport on 12/24 with my original itin and let DL deal with it?

Thank you.

Edit to clarify: I'm only saying this half-jokingly. One thing that surprised me was that I received no communication at all from Orbitz about the SFO-JFK flight change OR FCO-BUD cancellation. In fact, orbitz itin is still showing as my original itin.

Dare I ask if the compensation exceeded the original flight cost?

Has anybody had luck crediting these miles to AS? I see points have been crediting to DL, does O class credit to Delta or no? Boy I just pray my flight is delayed or overbooked and they book is into Y class or something like that. I had that happen on UA once. They rebooked us on LX A380.. Boy what an experience...

I get to fly this itinerary November 4. Miles or not, I am very excited. Thank you OP. Not a trip of a lifetime for me, but the three other people I booked this for are still to this day out of their mind excited.

I'm in Venice right now after taking the jfk-Mxp leg of the flight. Mileage credited. I book with Priceline which I read could potentially be a problem.

My PRG HKG flight is coming up Thursday however our plan was to ditch that flight and use award ticket home from Rome next week after a week+ or touring italy. I just read Pbodyphotos post about the overbooking. I had nearly forgotten about that flight but will keep my eyes open for a schedule change or overbook would be crazy if the strike or related travel issues overbook that flight.

krupdogg,
Good luck but I think my situation is rather unusual. Remember though if you have a major schedule change or reroute with no other options then you can fight to claim your trip in vain and the airline must refund your fare and return you to your starting point.

I'm taking my flight from JFK to MXP. I booked a different flight home and plan on abandoning the PRG - NRT (through AMS) leg which is 6 days later. Has anyone else abandoned this leg? Will i have any problems. I have a sky mile account with many miles i don't want it to get locked up.

So mainly, two questions, Should I just no show or should i call to cancel the day before the flight?

Also will I be ok checking a bag from the JFK to MXP leg or will it get sent on to NRT if there is a 6 day lag between legs. Thank you.

People miss flights for all kinds of reasons, so don't worry.

You'll collect your luggage after you land at MXP. I'd be a no-show.

The rooms aren't the best rooms I have ever stayed in but I required two beds so couldn't accept the offered suite upgrades. The location is great though, it truly was located perfectly for everything I wanted to see or do. The breakfast buffet in the lobby restaurant was great!
