UA - Need 9500 EQM to reach 1K Newbie out of FLL, or MIA

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to do my first ever mileage run.. Looks like I missed out on a lot of deals departing tomorrow. I can go anytime beginning on 12/12/12. Prefer routing to SIN from either FLL or MIA for an ultra long haul. Any ideas? Budget $1500.00

Thank you!

Why would you want to go to Singapore when you only need 9500 miles?
Also, if you want to go to SIN on such short notice, $1500 won't stretch far enough.

I would look at S. America on COPA. GRU misses the mark by a few miles, even via PTY, but it's only $1,120 departing on Dec 16. You could make up the remaining miles with a domestic.

There doesn't appear to be. Here's a link to their mileage earning page from MileagePlus. You just need to make sure to get the right fare class, but the range seems plentiful.

Any particular place in S. America that intrigues you? Would you want an immediate turnaround, or be able to stay a night or two?

Hi AeroWesty,

Rio, Buenos Aires, and an overnight would be great or even two days

Okie, lemme see what I can do. Looks like Asuncion is coming up around $1,300 if you do an open-jaw, flying out of MIA returning into LAX, then taking the red-eye home.

Lemme see what Rio or Bs. As. brings up.

Okay, I'll update this post with new ideas as I'm searching, rather than do a new post. If something intrigues you, give a holler.

RIO:

$1,298.25 10,743 miles
CM Dec 16 MIA-PTY-GIG
CM Dec 19 GIG-PTY-LAX

$399.10 2,338 miles
UA Dec 20 LAX-IAH-FLL (red-eye at 1:30am, about 10 hour layover at LAX)

-----

Buenos Aires will run you at least $2500. Let me look at Montevideo, it's nearby.

-----

$1,360.40 10,137 miles
CM Dec 28 MIA-PTY-MVD
CM Dec 31 MVD-PTY-MTY-IAH

$162.30 962 miles
UA Dec 31 IAH-MIA

I like this one! It arrives about 2am in MVD on Dec 29, departs at 2:30am on Dec 31, giving you plenty of time to make the IAH-MIA flight within the year-end.

COPA is a great idea, AND, you can get a 25% pqm bonus if purchasing through any of their channels, which means you only need to fly 7,600 miles (3,800 each way, so not very far) to achieve the status. You must register your MP number, tho! Enjoy!

PS Don't forget to avoid countries where a visa+fees are required, including Brazil and Argentina.

Considering your budget, you have many options....

Maybe a premium ticket to the Caribbean (AUA)?

Maybe Hawaii/UK....

Oh interesting! That would bring the Asuncion fare of $867.40 into play, since it only nets 7,888 miles round-trip.

Oops, forgot to add the details:

$867.40 7,888 miles
CM Dec 16 MIA-PTY-ASU (arrives 11:46pm)
CM Dec 18 ASU-PTY-MIA (departs 2:18am)

-----

This also brings Montevideo back into the running:

$672.40 9100 miles
CM Dec 29 MIA-PTY-MVD
CM Dec 31 MVD-PTY-MIA
