AA: Plat Needs 22,000 MR based out of SAN or LAX 12/14-12/15

Trying to take full advantage of the AATHX DEQM to reach EXP. This will also get me the ELTA2 reward...

Current balance: 78,000. If my math is correct , I would need 11,000 actual EQM. Can anyone familiar with the calcs confirm?

Based in SAN, willing to depart from LAX.

Have passport and willing to go ANYWHERE.

Budget: <$1000

Committed to monitor this thread for questions/updates.

Using ITA, found an option: ($1,328)
12/15: SAN-DFW-ORD-LHR (AA QLW7Q2E1 SAN to LON)
12/16: LHR-SAN (AA MLWNAJB LON to SAN)

Can anyone help me beat that??

I like the idea and appreciate the response, but I'm showing the fare for the 12/14-16 dates at >$1000.

$334 fare is on UA. That won't work.

Any AA ideas AeroWesty? I saw you some good routes in another thread for 15k EQM from LAS/SFO through JFK to EZE...

I would do two SAN-LAX-BOS or SAN-LAX-NYC day turns, each should be just under $500. 500-mile minimums for SAN-LAX will put you over 11K.

Good thought and thx for the response. Would be a weekend MR of flying w 2 transcont redeyes! Best total pricing I've found so far is north of my (hopeful) budget.

Ah yeah, I was looking at any available day, weekends are getting pricey!

Departing Dec 16 (Sun) you can still get SAN-LAX-BOS-JFK-SAN for $417. Red-eye departing. Also check LAX/SNA/ONT.

Good catch! That was $1,100 last night when I was checking Europe. Looks like some O-class has been opened up.

I'm confused... if you reach EXP on 100,000 EQM (not EQP) *and* get the ELTA2 reward (for 125,000+ points), wouldn't you already be EXP or near EXP on points alone at this point?

djibouti, my mistake. Here are my current stats:
YTD Elite Qualifying Points 54,029
YTD Elite Qualifying Miles 78,271
YTD Elite Qualifying Segments 55

I believe the LAX - ORD - LHR - ORD - LAX MR would get me to EXP. And also (I think) the ELTA2 reward for 75k+ points.

Any advice on the most efficient/cost effective way for me to achieve EXP (via EQM or EQP)? This would be a first...

You do realize that the LAX-LHR ticket is up to $1,539 now, right?

When you are EXP, your threashold for ELTA2 becomes 125K points, not 75K. Also note that you do not get double EQMs or EQPs on flights not on AA metal. Any flight to Europe on BA will net you nothing extra in your MR except your standard bonus RDMs.
