This was bookable at www.orbitz.com.
I couldn't even book it at klm.com
The fare is still available but for limited dates of travel.
The R class fare on KLM is eligible for 100% EQMs & RDMs on Delta's skymiles.
My bad, I must have read it wrong. I must have wanted to read that it was bookable at DL.com (...so I can burn a cert)

I notice many dates that I can do this. I'm just having problems getting it to accept a connection city to IAD without charging me 2x the price versus booking it separately.

I just priced this routing out on DL (Jan 23-25) using multi-city and selecting the exact flights that ITA was showing as available. So you may be able to book and use your cert.....

This is true, as I have had the same experience.

You can try booking as follows:

a. Your home airport - IAD - your home airport.

b. IAD-CPT-IAD for $754/-

There is a 'trick' that I have sent you via PM, that you want to consider trying also!

Best I could find on Delta.com multicity search is:
1/23 JFK-AMS
1/24 AMS-JNB
1/25 JNB-cpt
1/25 cpt-JFK
Price per passenger: $380.40 (USD)
Taxes/Fees: $495.80 (USD)
Subtotal per Passenger: $876.20 (USD)
Total for all passengers (1): $876.20 (USD)

Miles earned = 20380

Anything lower in the $700s with alternate dates?

@DL - Do a round trip search by schedule and only select KL coded flights.....

1/23 JFK-CPT
1/25 CPT-JFK

Thanks OP. Great find.

I just booked IAD-JFK-AMS-CPT-AMS-IAD with 21 hours to play in AMS on the outbound and 26 hours to tour CPT starting on 1/28 for $774 AI. You do have to specify the KL coded flights (for all but the IAD-JFK leg). Specifying the DL coded flights (same metal) results in $1,661 AI.

Now my only question is whether I can book EC seats on KL without paying the premium. I'll see if a airport ticket agent can do that for me tomorrow.

Yeah, I've got a day to play in AMS and a day to play in CPT also. I'm traveling back home from SCL today and I'm planning to spend some time on the phone with my friendly Diamond desk agent and see if they can sneak me into the prem economy...I don't think there's a snowballs chance in hell I'll get to use my UG certs for the long haul leg...

That's how I did it...except I did it from home airport across the country twice to JFK and then back across the country twice again to get back to home airport.

Long time lurker on FT. Looking to book one of these. I have found the $754 fare on ITA but using the same KLM flights it is $100 higher on DL.com Any advice for a newbie? I have some DL certs to use

Now if due to bad weather you don't make the (Home)-IAD leg, doesn't that significantly screw up the MR mission?

I am on the fence on this one. Looking at a 5 day trip in late March to do some shark diving. Just a long trip for that short on the ground. Especially starting out on the west coast.
