UA MR help: 6915 mi, based in PHL

Need some help from you guys. I need 6915 mi to make UA 1P for next year. I'm based in PHL, but can get to the NYC airports provided that it's on the weekends and preferably later in the day (say 9/10am flt). Sometimes the no-car life kind of bites you on the back end.

I can only do MRs on the weekends and prefer to do same day turn. I don't have anywhere in particular I would like to go. The cheaper the fare, the better.

Thoughts? Thanks for the help in advance!

take a look at the farecompare.com/flyertalk from JFK. You could also look into p.s. flights from JFK-SFO/LAX. That would get you about 5000miles..

Check fares to SAN, they have been super cheap this year from PHL. I have done 4 of them already. Also per the mileage run deals forum SEA has some good deals as well.

Thanks guys! I have been looking at the SEA/SAN fare very closely and missed the opportunities to purchase yesterday (I have family in SEA). Do you think it would come back? Most of what I see now is >$300 in that market.

JFK-SFO is a great idea. I'll keep looking. More suggestions welcome!

That is a lot of miles to get if you are trying to do it in one day of flying on a same day turn.

The best I can come up with nets you 5426 miles and costs $300.80ai on a same day weekend, turn out of PHL is to Reno RNO. Route through SFO both ways.

Another moderate length run of about 750mi. each way would get you what you need.

My longest single-day run was 7018 miles

SFO-JFK - 2586
JFK-SFO - 2586
SFO-ORD - 1846

I would recommend you try and sleep as much as you can. Even though I slept on the redeye to ORD, I was dead tired the next day, and fell asleep around 8pm on my couch, while watching the tv. Next thing I knew was the phone was ringing, and the tv had been on all night..

IAD LAS 2065 mi
LAS CLE 1824 mi
CLE IAD 288 mi
IAD PHL 135 mi

If you earn a minimum of 500 EQMs per segment then the total is 5389.

That PHL-SFO-RNO-SFO-PHL trip is 6042 EQMs for a Premier. The $300.80 is available on 12/11 also.

FriendlySkies: Ditto to the sleep. Good news is I can sleep pretty much anywhere, any time (a great skill to have for plane ride, horrible for meetings and work )

I'll look into the phl-sfo-rno. I have never been there. This would get me close enough that I may have a shot! There may be a short business trip coming up in December so that would help getting the 900 mi left.

mrwunrfl: I thought there's no more elite bonus in counting EQM. Am I missing something? FYI: I'm currently UA 1P.

Thanks for all the great help guys!

PHL-SFO-GEG return is $260, just over 4 cents per mile.

fzwinter, belfordrocks: that was an awesome find. Taking care of the logistics right now. MR newbie here. Is it possible to sleep inside the secured area (next to gates and such) for the night?

I'm not sure although I'd imagine at an airport like GEG they'd probably clear everything out every night. You should be able to get a cheap hotel near the airport on Priceline.

Update: I booked the phl-sfo-geg-sea-sfo-phl flight! It was $265 ai... book for the weekend of 12/10, and going to try to make a mini trip out of it.

Thanks everyone for their great suggestions! I'm grateful that I belong to such a helpful community.

Couldn't you get a stopover in SEA on the outbound?

Anyway... (try to) enjoy Spokane!
