I've spent quite a bit of time here, using the MR tools provided and described, and I'm still not any closer to finding a mileage run that I need to attain the level I want with Sky Miles. I made it to 1K on United last week and saw the huge difference it made when I went to book a trip for next year using my miles, although for me it's more about the upgrades as I fly weekly for work. Since this MR will be coming out of my own pocket, I need to get the absolute lowest fare to get the miles I need. I'm sitting here smack dab in the middle of the country so I think I need to go a good distance in either direction to get enough miles, though I'm not averse to flying around a bit. I'd like to keep it to a 1-day or overnight (in the airport, of course) routing if possible. Just the miles ... always about the miles.
I'm needing 3800 miles on Delta/NW, flying out of FSD. I could drive 4 hours to MSP to get lower fares, but then I'd lose out on the 500 miles each way for that leg of the trip, which seems pointless. I'd appreciate any assistance possible with this.
