So any idea why this came up? Maybe a glitch in Delta's system? Is the flight THAT empty that they are trying to fill it?
My return flight ZRH-JFK on Monday was about 60-70% full in coach. No op-up, of course. Outbound on Friday was about 80-95% full. Also no op-up then.

This deal costs $454 from MKE or ORD but I just flew MSN-JFK-ZRH-JFK-MKE for $345, so although it's great for NYC people, I'm not eager. I actually booked another ZRH itinerary when the Delta deal was around in June, but decided I didn't want to fly to Europe that many times, so I canceled.

MSP-ZRH

You can do the same thing from MSP for $545.40 - out Sept 26, return Sept 27. Amazing.

Ugly 18 hour layover in JFK on the return though.

Unlike domestic US fares, int'l fares usually do not work in reverse.

Don't you get 25000 miles just for the New International Routes promo + Delta amex bonus that ends 30 Sep? That comes to 40724 miles counting that promo and the double miles promo, and not counting any elite bonus. $.007/mile.
From the T's & C's of the promo (which is gone BTW):

To participate in this offer, eligible members must register online at delta.com/international by August 31, 2009, and book and fly round trip between the start date of each new route and September 30, 2009.

I booked this for my dad and myself this morning. We're both going to be short on miles this year and it could help. I figured, we'd think about it and cancel before the 24 window is up if need be.

After booking it, I checked the current promotions and this flight is good for a 10k bonus until 9/30 under NW's Summer Europe Mega Bonus.

Great minds think alike Travelomania. T&C available on NW at http://www.nwa.com/offers/europebonus/

I'm curious about the 25k offer too.

I'm willing to do this for $529 out of MSP. I also have a free wknd night from Starwood Preferred Guest to burn--good for Category 6 hotels and expires on 9/30. Could get two twin beds for a fellow FT member if I go. If only I lived in NYC.
