I'm wondering why AA's super sale always last for long time. I remember that several months ago, when AA matched UA/LA's super fare from DCA to LIM, the UA fare disappeared on the next day, while AA fare remained there at least for an additional week. At this time, I jumped into the deal on the first night, but the fare still lasted for several days and even had dropped another 40$ thereafter. Does AA always react more slowly to their mistaken published fares than its competitors?
Damn, I booked at the low rate but forgot to call to have them move my fare from Q to N. Now that the prices have hiked its not worth doing that anymore I'm guessing...right?

Can you even do that without raising the price of the ticket?

Well, it's a question of whether the seat in business is worth an additional $550.
My recommendation would be to sit tight and watch the N fares. If you see the N fares hit the $700 mark all in, then I would act. I doubt they're going to come back down to the $450/$500 we've just seen, but $700 is a very fair price for NY-Rio based on historical trends.
It doesn't cost you anything to sit and wait for a bit, depending on how availability looks for your flights.
And it looks like AA is back in the game at least through 11 DEC. Q00BR0 fare basis $424.00 or $597 all in with about $74 in fuel surcharges and another $100 in taxes.
Though UA is down to a base of $361 but availability is tighter.

If you are on a 777, at least row 31 will give you some room but if you want a window view forget it. The 767-300 has a little mini comparment between rows 10 and 13 but just hope that a GA does not stick a bunch of screaming children in row 10 (which in turn rightfully so pisses off paxs seated in J).
Also if you end up on Flight 950/951, a 777 that goes between GRU and GIG, that portion is usually really light. So if in row 31, you could move to a window seat to get some amazing views between the two airports.
Silam, if you are EXP I would eat at the FL lounge if you are connecting in MIA or JFK before flight (can't recall if you can use the FL-ORD-on the domestic portion, other FTs?-your answer).

If you're FL-eligible, you can use any FL along the route of your trip provided it is the same day or a short overnight connection (e.g. late evening arrival/early morning departure next day).

I wouldn't exactly call that "back in the game".. That's what the fare was for a couple weeks before they went nuts with the $299/$340 all-ins..

Now this stuff is silly, but they charge US Citizens $130 because the US charges Brazilian Citizens the same amount for US tourist visas. So the rise in cost was in reaction to the US raising their rates. Of course this is hurting the Brazilian tourist market and there are many in the country lobbying to fix this...the flow of tourists is NOT symmetrical in this case. Now, if you're a Canadian...you will only pay $35 for the visa. Hmm.
I got in on this...will make a great vacation. Thanks OP.
