Hmmmm... Looking at fares in KVS, it appears that AA refiled a new Q fare with a price about $40 higher than before....
EDIT: This one seems to allow one free stopover in the US and one additional stopover for US$60, according to fare rules on KVS. Still only good for travel until Dec 12, 09

Reason: additional info
I'm not a frequent AA traveler, and I'm finding that they are quite aggressive on canceling multiple (but not identical) PNRs.
I had three PNRs on hold as I had to clear some time off at work:
Tue/Sat
Tue/Sun
Wed/Sat
The last two were cancelled prior to their hold expiring and AA res would not reinstate them at the original $340-ish fare. While I understand the reasoning behind this, I don't agree with canceling the PNRs post-hold.
Just be quick on booking in case this fare disappears and you have some on hold.

This is a well known issue with holding multiple similar AA reservations. You say you aren't a frequent AA flier but presumably you have an aadvantage number? If you have the same number on reservations that can't physically be completed (ie overlapping, etc) they'll cancel them.
The workaround is to not include your AA number in the reservation when holding (you can add it later) and using slight name variations for each reservation so the computer doesn't cancel them on you. Ie "JOHN M SMITH" and "JOHNM SMITH" AND "JOHN SMITH" AND "JONATHAN M SMITH" and so on...
