Looks like BOS is the place to be for fare wars these days. Lots of airlines are competing for a piece of the pie, with plenty of new service being added.

$39 for 8 points (assuming online booking) is still almost $500 in flying (12.5 round trips) to get enough points for a TrueBlue reward. Their program is not particularly rewarding for the short-haul flier.

I checked every date in the fare sale, not a single $9 fare still left

Edit to add:

Whoops! I cleared cookies and started over and was able to find many dates with $9 fares still for sale

Chicago Boston 59$ai one way

Got travelzoo alert:
"JetBlue has slashed fares on
flights to Boston from Chicago for just $49 each way. Wow!
JetBlue usually sells this route for $159 each way.

This fare won't last, you must book by 5PM CST tonight.

This sale is good for travel Jan. 6 - Feb. 10. Friday and
Sunday flights, and all travel Jan. 15-19 are blacked out."

Good for you. Out of Dulles I would guess. You know that you will be cheating on Mesa.

I got a mailer from OPEN from Amex yesterday for a $25 statement credit when booking B6 on your OPEN Amex Business card. You could conceivably fly BOS-BUF RT for free

I feel no remorse over passing on the BOS-BUF $9 deal. I have no desire to go to Buffalo in the dead of winter!

No, that was BOS-BUF. I was playing "catch and release" where I can pull up the deal but opt not to purchase it.

As far as cheating on Mesa, I'll do that any chance I get! Ha ha...
