IAD-somewhere on UA? Cannot find lower than $120

I'm sending off Mrs. Heffa any coming Sunday for the United 5/10/25K promo. She must fly another two return flights. We flew together last week IAD-EWR for $110, but now for 2007 the same flights doesn't come up cheeper than $120.

Is $120 the lowest UA fare that's out there from IAD/DCA?

Can only do a couple of bucks cheaper than that. All fares listed without taxes and fees:

Fort Lauderdale, FL UA 98
Chicago-All Airports, IL UA 98
Detroit-All Airports, MI UA 98
New York-All Airports, NY UA 100 0 0.243 206
Newark, NJ UA 100

IAD to FLL might work. United has a 5:05 p.m. departure on Sunday, January 28th. Return at 8:33 a.m. the next morning. Total round trip is $118.80 (T class).

But I found something better. Sunday, January 21, IAD to ORD and return. A bunch of choices on flight times, return same day, $118.80 all in (L class). The reason O'Hare might be attractive is because there's a mileage promo running. Check the rules, but you may be able to pick up some more bonus miles with that.

On edit: I think the New York airports is the best option. There's a promo for double miles out of IAD to a few airports. I'm not sure, but it looks like the New York airports have two separate double miles promotions, so you could really rack up there.

On second edit: There's a double miles promotion for flying Ted from IAD to FLL. If you cannot double double with New York airports then I'd say FLL is your best option. (You'll get more miles anyway -- it's a longer route.) There might be some same day flight times available -- I didn't do a thorough check.

I just check the fine print in the 5/10/25K promo and it seems not to be combinable with other promos. *grrr*

I'll probably book her on the NYC route and I found that the prices comes down to $110 in 3 weeks. Two return trips: IAD-NYC, NYC-IAD-NYC, NYC-IAD. Total $220 and if I find the link again, I'll buy the rebate $25 for 1,000 miles per ticket, i.e. $170 + 2,000 miles.

2,000 miles on-line ticket purchase
1,000 miles on-line check-in
2,000 miles for flying four segments
25,000 miles promo 5/10/25K
Total: 30,000 miles

Costs: $170 + 2,000 miles.

Given the time of year and weather, I'd be more inclined to go south. We did a MR from SMF to FLL a couple weeks ago to get my wife back to 2P and connected in IAD on the return. Although there were no issues at ORD on the outbound cx, I wouldn't push my luck now...

Good luck!

As well as the 1,000 booking bonus... Now it's only: "Earn up to 500 bonus miles every time you purchase qualifying travel at united.com."
