Watch for Fare Mistakes after Midnight Tomorrow
Hey Everyone!
If you have nothing better to do after the clock strikes midnight tomorrow, watch for fare mistakes tomorrow. Last year, AirCanada had a huge fare mistake that happened at midnight ET (or was it CT?). Maybe we'll get lucky again.
Happy New Year!

Last year's Air Canada $0 "sale" actually was bankrolled by Amadeus GDS, and it applied to any flight US-Canada on any airline. On New Year's day of 2005, the Tahiti deal was going on. Seems to be a great day for systemwide errors.
Happy New Year to all MR and mistake fare flyers. It was a great year!

Thanks for the tip. I missed AC's deal last year and I'm still upset about it. This year, with farecompare, there may be a good chance that another mistake occurs.
Although, the "leap second" last year may have had something to do with the errors.

What's the significance of New Year's as it pertains to mistake fares? Why would an airline be more prone to make an error on January 1st than any other day of the year?

Good reminder for me to get my one AC ticket cancelled and refunded. After all, AC dishonored the rest completely.

My conspiracy theory.
1. Less staff on new years day/eve
2. Staff who are there are drinking or partying hard on NYE and walk in half drunk.
The people who load the fares are humans. We all make mistakes.

Do airlines load fares 24/7? January 1st is a holiday for most white-collar employees. Is it not for airlines? Is revenue management a round-the-clock, second-by-second enterprise?
