I have found out at least that the price combines a NW fare to EWR and half of a KL fare. The KL fares say they can be combined with KL/AF/NW fares, unfortunately no other carrier, otherwise I'd combine it with a DL fare.
Also I am not sure why ITA is unable to price this correctly. No matter what it splits it at the first stop and that bumps the price as the EWR BKK becomes a one way fare....

We need details. What airline? Does it have the dreaded "6-Day" min stay requirement?

I can't figure out the exact routing details but I see a BKK-SFO ~$850 J fare o/w is on KE and OZ. F o/w is ~$1400. Journey must commence in BKK. Other than that it appears unrestricted (someone may want to double check on this). Good for a comfortable mileage run and very good if you credit to LH for double or triple status miles.

I've routed and purchased a ticket on the similarly priced DL. Return came out to 1680$ with the dollar being week it may be a few more dollars now but not much.

It's not very creative. Anything more impressive? Guess it depends what your goal is. I have BKK-SIN-NRT on SQ and then NRT LAX on KE or DL with no trouble and I do not think it very impressive routing.
That was brilliant. You are a true student of the art. And I have learned a lot.

And I just discovered something that is quite ironical. Air New Zealand metal is used for most of this fare, but this airline does not publish a LAX-KUL fare.
ITA refuses to even find this routing. It knows about all the flight but no matter what I do it refuses to chain OS2 into it.
Since this is a routing fare, would it be possible to make a stop in AKL and in SYD and keep the same fare?
If someone has booked a trip similar to the one in comment #109 (or even found it on some website other than nwa.com), and is interested in helping me figure out why our website (matrix.itasoftware.com) is not finding it, please PM me.

I do not know if I should start a new thread with this or just continue this one, but I found a link on seatguru that goes to a site that offers C LAX-HKG return for 2500$, 2900$ for EWR HKG and 3200$ for LAX-HKG.
Is this a consolidator? What airline is their "5 star business/first class" provider? Would it earn miles?
Anybody tried it?
