for BKK ICN HNL SFO at 888 USD (incl taxes) one way, C class on DL, check expedia.com many different alternatives possible, i checked for 15 march to HNL and 22 march from HNL. Many carriers seem available to get to ICN as this is a C fare, for those willing to try out different business classes and compare...
I am amazed I can get the same price as you with those dates, but other dates do not work. Also Maybe it works because for HNL the Intermediat Point check does not hurt. In fact in the BKK to LAX rules on DL, there is no imposed routing. Any info?
Is that through a local agent in BKK,and does it include taxes??
Well if you look, the fare originates in CMB not BKK!
h/e, there is also a similar far, full C originating in BKK. Use ITA to find it. But the problem is how to book it! I still can't find a TA to book the fare for me.
Wow I have tried more combinations! This opens up amazing possiblilities But I never see the rules about the routing on the NW C fare. Is this rule really there? Where do you find it?
NW rules on the CSPL fare are similar to the UA D fare. It is a routing fare and allows stopovers for more than 24 hours as long as you follow the routing. Potential stops on the CMB-LAX fare would be either SIN or BKK or HKG as well as NRT and SEA. It's US$670 each way plus fuel surcharge and taxes. The UA D fare is US$822 each way plus, plus. IMHO this is a better deal. You can get about 34K EQMs round trip by routing yourself CMB-SIN-NRT-HNL-LAX-SFO-SEA-SFO-LAX-HNL-NRT-SIN-CMB. And you can upgrade to United First Suite with miles or Systemwide upgrades if you have them.
Thanks to OP for the great topic. I'm also searching for "good deal" premium fares.
I've started the AA gold / platinum challenges. I'll have 6,500 EQP after a couple of required trips in Feb/March which are primarily in coach.
Even though it is counter-intuitive to the MR mentality, I'd love to complete the challenge with a single-day transcon MR in "premium" seats.
This is the best "premium" single-day run I've found so far:
SFO-DFW-IAH-LAX-SFO
$726-all in
4193 base miles x 1.5 = 6290 EQP
any ideas / thoughts?
I also started a Platinum challenge in January..and have long been superstitious that the class of service I fly for my first trip of the year will be the class of service I fly the rest of the year!
Had a business trip to California 2 weeks ago. At the time of booking, the cheapest AA coach fare PBI-SNA via DFW was $569 (and only middle seat coach available). 500-mile upgrade certs for this trip would have cost $300, with, of course, no guarantees of clearing the upgrades.
When I checked fares/flights from FLL-SNA, found a First class fare for $841 all-in. $569 is reimbursable business expense, so my cost was $272 for a guaranteed first class seat and 6973 EQP.

SEA-EWR on NW in B for around $360. One of the few reasonable one-way NW fares, except some ex-DTW and ex-MSP fares.
I find this an interesting thread, as I've put some time into perl scripts, to do just this for NWA (for date by city-pair, for city-pair by date, with options of first class). I used this to find a $418 special for DTW-FLL/F (yes, in the winter!!!), travelling next week. Also, there's a $487.70 IND-IAD, which combined with a DTW-IND/K and some TCVs, is less then DTW-IAD direct.
If you're flexible in desintation, and don't mind some whacky connections, there's some oppurtunity with NWA.

Very smart of you, comparing airports. Anyone who doesn't compare PBI/FLL/MIA when flying into South Florida is going to pay for that mistake. I've seen fare differences of as much as double, for the same day/time. It amazes me that any carrier even bothers to charge differently for PBI/FLL. MIA is a bit of an anomoly, being a gateway to Central/South America... fares are always screwy there.

I think what we lack is a good premium fare search engine - especially something with dream map capability. It would be great if a company like expertflyer would step up and offer an engine capable of indexing all the Y,D,Z,C,F etc. fares and produce a good search engine or dream map from them.
If someone did come up with something like this I would donate one of the domain names that I have.

I have read this post and some others on the great business fares out of CMB. I was wondering if it would be possible to get a business fare or combination of business fares from Europe through Asia and then to the USA. My thought is AMS to CMB in business then CMB to SFO. I priced out AMS to CMB on Singapore with some random dates and it prices out to Euro 3,800 which is not the worst but not free either. I went to United to price out the CMB to SFO and got some error message. My thought is a long vacation with these flights could be fun and rack up enough EQM to make 1k a lock. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Your trip has to start in BKK or CMB to qualify for these cheap fares. You can do a RTW BKK-NRT-PDX-DTW-EWR-MUC-BKK on NW for $3,400, but the same trip costs more than twice as much if you originate in PDX or MUC.

There aren't many published fares for *A carriers from europe to CMB. For SkyTeam, CSA has J/D fares from LON/FRA/AMS-CMB for about USD1000 one-way (didn't try to book, just saw them listed in the travelocity fare lister). You can then start a ex-CMB fare to the US or back to europe.
Updated: tried to book ams-cmb and it works on travelocity, but have to specify dates, so check the schedule to see when CSA has flights for PRG-CMB:
