Please make this topic sticky!

Yet another vote here to make this sticky. I think the sheer amount of traffic should make it apparent that people have some ongoing interest in this topic.

Hey moderators, what do you say?

I would be really happy if i could pick up intl J(D) flights instead of coach on my next trip (SNN) abroad. It's a lot easier to convince ppl to pick up the cost of J when there isn't a 4kUSD difference in price between J and Y. :-p

SQ fares on ultra-longhauls

SQ MES-LAX J $1345 (one-way)
SQ MES-EWR J $1735 (one-way)

Both route through SIN and are on A345 SIN-LAX, SIN-EWR flights

MES is Medan, Indonesia
~350 miles from Singapore

about $350 return in Y from SIN to start in MES

$169 each if you book with one other person! (See post #215)

Fare rules also state unlimited stopovers, not sure if this would cause a HIP check in SIN

Where are you pricing these out? I am considering a move to SIN this year and need to find a decent deal in Biz to get my wife home to the US several times a year.
I've found that KUL and BKK are both far better deals than SIN, I would like to have MES an option too, particularly if it's the SQ nonstops onward from SIN.

I saw this pricing KUL-LAX in J on ITA where one of the options routed KUL-MES-SIN-LAX and combined two fare basis.

I broke them down individually to find out the fare basis codes for the above.

Silkair flies the SIN-MES route and right now is having a fare special where if you have 2 people travelling SIN-MES each person is 270 SGD or $169 round trip.

http://www.silkair.com/mbe/applicati...dSortCriteria=

A very good deal to go with a friend!

For those wanting SoAm to Europe, AA has some decent fares in J that are good for decent mileage. ~$4500 in J gets you GRU-MIA-LHR-DFW-GRU or GRU-JFK-DFW-FRA-DFW-GRU. Best part is that on the 777 flights you can upgrade to F. MMmmm, Flagship Suite! I like GRU-MIA-LHR as you can make it a same day connection... the day GRU-MIA flight gets in about 2.5hr before MIA-LHR.

I though tthe $1300 AA B fare MIA-EZE was excellent as you can upgrade each way for 10K and no copay

This is an amazing fare. Some 3,500 miles, $312+ in C. Do you have any experience with this agency?

CMB-SIN-LAX/SFO/SEA/SAN/PDX... one-way in C for $720, all in; around $2100 r/t.

Uses JL or BR (AA codeshare) transpac and a combination of CX/AY/AS depending on day of week, routing, and destination.

Available on aa.com through EoS. Must route through SIN, so use the multi-city search.

(I imagine the JL flights would deliver AA EQMs upon their entry into OW.)

Some good KE (Korean Air) fares come up in October... I just put in 15Oct and found the following deals:

BKK-LAX or BKK-SFO
C KE Z One-Way 834.00 (USD)
F KE F One-Way 1397.00 (USD)

BKK-LAS
C KE Z One-Way 974.00 (USD)
F KE F One-Way 1599.00 (USD)

IMHO $1400 for an F fare is a pretty good deal; I generally figure anything less than 10c/EQM is a decent deal for a business class ticket, this comes out a little less than 12 c/EQM with taxes, assuming 50% EQM bonus. Again, biggest problem (for me as a WP member) w/ KE is business only gives 25% EQM bonus.

Maybe you should join Flying Blue (KL/AF)...F on KE earns 300% EQM bonus!

But can you actually find availability in "F" class on the KE flights between ICN and the USA? AFAIK, they only market these in "P" class. I've tried to get it to price in Sabre, but it breaks the fare in Seoul, charging ICN-LAX separately in P class, which is much higher. I've tried forcing an F class booking in Sabre, but the segment comes back unavailable in F, and confirms it in P. I've tried to have the KE rate desk price it using the through F fare, but they also say it has to be broken in Seoul since KE does not offer booking code F over the Pacific to the USA. If you have a secret, let us in on it ...

Y and B class bookings have access to these seats. Or find a travel agent that is "preferred" with DL, and you can have them at the time of booking, regardless of booking code.

Okay, fair enough, I'm only going off published fares, I have not tried to price this because I ASSumed that a published fare would be available... for my CPM calcs I just estimated taxes. But the biz class should work, right?
